Last updated:

PENTAGON is a nine-member South Korean boy group formed through a debut reality show.

Their group name comes from being composed of members who fulfill the essential elements of an idol: vocals and rap, dance, teamwork, aura, and mindset.

It’s also very contemporary that they’re a multinational group with members from Korea, Japan, and China.

This time, we’re introducing a ranking of PENTAGON’s most popular songs!

There are times when you care about someone but can’t quite express it well, right? Shine portrays that frustrating mood and mindset.

It’s a song by the boy group PENTAGON, crafted into a catchy pop track with a pleasantly distorted beat.

You could interpret that beat as representing the heart’s excited pounding.

There’s also a Japanese-language version of the song, so if you’re interested, give it a listen.

This magnificent ballad, elegantly woven with piano and strings, was released in June 2018 as part of the OST for the drama “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.” Jinho, the main vocalist of PENTAGON, delivers powerful high notes that blend beautifully with solo singer Rothy’s crystalline voice, delicately portraying the subtle emotions of two people newly in love.

The song was used in some of the drama’s most memorable scenes, gently narrating the protagonists’ inner feelings and resonating with many viewers.

It’s perfect not only for those harboring bittersweet feelings of love, but also as background music for cherished moments with someone special.

It’s the title track of the 2020 mini-album WE:TH.

At first listen the song can feel intense, but the members’ vocal delivery and the way the chorus bursts with emotion give it a deeply aching quality.

While wishing happiness for a loved one, the lyrics confess a hidden hope that they might be unhappy instead… torn between wanting them to go so far away that the time they spent in love can no longer be remembered, and wanting that person to long for love again.

The white daisies on the cover symbolize “innocence.” The song also plays on the Korean word deida, which means being burned or going through something painful and difficult, to portray the wounds of love—another layer of poignancy.

Released in 2018, this is a long-running hit that climbed the charts in reverse.

The song’s theme is otaku culture, and it tells the story of a protagonist whose romances never go well, singing, “How foolish I am to have fallen in love with you,” yet ultimately resolving that you’re the only one for them.

On the other hand, the dance exudes a wonderfully fun vibe from the members! Partway through, there’s even choreography that calls to mind DA PUMP’s “U.S.A.”

This is a cool track that embodies contemporary K-POP with an electro-dance sound, soaring high-tone vocals, and sharp rap.

Be sure to check out their highly polished choreography, too!

A unit that debuted in 2016 and has been releasing one hit after another.

Their danceable tracks overflow with wild energy—pay special attention to the rap part by Yuto, a Japanese member from Nagano Prefecture! You’ll also be moved by the powerful vocals of Jinho, the oldest member who worked as a vocal trainer at their agency before debut, and the leader Hui.
