Elementary school students are very sensitive to trends.

The sense of what’s trendy among their parents’ generation often gets called “outdated” by the kids, doesn’t it?

This time, we’ll introduce popular bands among elementary school students in a ranking format.

Check out which bands are trending!

Showa is often used as a byword for “old,” but with terms like “Heisei retro” flying around lately, I bet many of you are feeling a chill down your spine (lol).

If you’re an elementary schooler, Showa must feel incredibly distant, and there’s probably more you don’t understand than you do—but how about getting a feel for it through Kyuso Nekokami’s song Giri Showa? It’s not just about Showa; the lyrics and tempo snap along with the era names, grabbing your heart, and the distinct Kyuso style rings out throughout the track.

It also made waves because the “Reiwa” part was recorded the moment the new era name was announced, and the music video was released immediately after.

The theme song of Dragon Ball.

It repeatedly chants “Frieza, Frieza,” and it’s a track that makes anyone think of Dragon Ball.

However, at first it was performed without obtaining permission from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball.

Later, it was adopted as the official theme song for Dragon Ball and became an authorized Dragon Ball track.

Yabai T-Shirts Yasan are a three-piece band known for their catchy, energizing songs.

Their track “Kawa E” is included on the 2018 album “Tank-top Festival in JAPAN,” and it was also used as the theme song for the film “Nisekoi,” starring Kento Nakajima and Ayami Nakajo in a double lead role.

The way the alphabet appears in the lyrics like a wordplay makes you think, “That’s clever!” The Kansai dialect is also great and really draws you in.

It’s a fun track that I highly recommend as a dance song, too.

Do you know the band Uchikubi Gokumon Doukoukai? Their name is unusual and maybe sounds a bit scary, right? If you only listen to the sound, it can feel a bit hard and intimidating, but their lyrics are all guaranteed to be a hit with elementary school kids.

The song “Japan’s Rice Is the Best in the World” has genuinely great lyrics praising Japanese rice.

The melody rhymes like a rap using the names of various rice-bowl dishes, and you’ll absolutely want to sing it with your friends.

Be sure to check out the lyric-packed, funny songs “Kinoko Takenoko War” and “I Don’t Want to Get Out of the Futon,” too!

Song of the WheelsBUMP OF CHICKEN40rank/position

A signature song by the band BUMP OF CHICKEN, known for their charismatic popularity.

Recently, Kenshi Yonezu has openly stated that he was influenced by them.

The enchanting, beautiful vocals and sincere lyrics leave a lasting impression.

If you can sing it well at karaoke, you might become quite popular.

A song full of light and hope from BURNOUT SYNDROMES.

Released in November 2016, it’s also known as the opening theme for the popular anime Haikyu!!.

Its powerful rock sound and passionate vocals fill listeners with courage and energy.

Singing about the importance of taking on challenges toward your dreams and goals, this piece will gently encourage freshmen who feel anxious in a new environment.

Played at an elementary school entrance ceremony, it’s sure to make children’s eyes shine and heighten their excitement for the school life ahead.

It’s a song we’d love anyone taking a new step to hear.

The song, which was chosen as the theme for the anime The Promised Neverland and became hugely popular, is performed by Cö shu Nie.

It’s a cool track packed with a guitar-rock vibe that really resonates with elementary school kids who also listen to Vocaloid songs.

The inclusion of piano and the soaring female vocals also contribute to how pleasant it is to listen to.
