Death MagicSEKAI NO OWARI50rank/position

A song that deeply moves you with its portrayal of profound grief over losing someone dear and the questions about life faced by those left behind.

It’s a track included on the album “EARTH,” released by SEKAI NO OWARI in April 2010 during their indie era.

Heavy themes of life and death, hope and despair are wrapped in a fantastical piano timbre and a pop melody.

While gently accompanying the hearts of those who know the pain of parting, this piece asks us about the meaning of living in the present precisely because everything comes to an end.

When you’re unable to escape deep sorrow and find yourself shutting down alone, the song’s bittersweet yet warm worldview will quietly soothe your heart.

I’d love for everyone who wishes to start looking forward, even just a little, to listen to it.

DropoutSEKAI NO OWARI51rank/position

SEKAI NO OWARI’s classic song “Dropout.” This piece features a sound influenced by Western music, and all of the lyrics are sung in English.

In terms of genre, it’s closest to electropop, and it even includes a drop, a hallmark of electronic styles.

While the English can be challenging, the vocal lines themselves are very simple compared to Western pop, so it should be easy to sing.

If you’re not confident in English, try focusing on liaison, which connects the vowel at the end of one word to the consonant at the beginning of the next.

SEKAI NO OWARI is a rock band that has been active for many years.

While they are categorized as a rock band, almost all of their songs fall under J-pop, and they consistently release works infused with unique concepts.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is “Zukan.” The vocal range spans roughly from mid1 B to high B, which is somewhat wide, but the pitch transitions are gentle, making it overall an easy song to sing.

It’s also one of their latest tracks, so be sure to add it to your repertoire.

SEKAI NO OWARI’s Fukase performs an acoustic version of “Starlight Parade” in a new commercial; the second installment of the ‘Tanrei Green Label’ ad co-starring Mikako Tabe is released.

This commercial features SEKAI NO OWARI’s Fukase performing a stripped-down version of “Starlight Parade.” As with the other Tannrei Green Label commercials, the music, visuals, and beer are a perfect match.

On days off, I’d love to relax and toast with beer and music just like in this ad.

yumeSEKAI NO OWARI54rank/position

Released in November 2011, “yume” is a hidden gem by SEKAI NO OWARI, with lyrics by Fukase, composition by Saori, and arrangement by Nakajin.

The lyrics depict someone so protective of their dreams that the fear of not achieving them takes over, leaving them frozen—ultimately revealing that continuing to pursue your dreams is more important than realizing them.

The refreshing, youthful sound is pleasantly uplifting.

The vocal range is slightly on the high side, but it’s an easy song to sing smoothly if you ride the rhythm, so definitely give it a try at karaoke.

An unusual song for SEKAI NO OWARI, who usually have many refreshing tracks.

The lyrics, which rattle off, “There’s no such thing as God for atheists, right? Then what exactly is justice?” are brimming with anger.

Because it’s such a catchy tune, that anger doesn’t leave a negative impression—maybe that’s part of Sekai no Owari’s appeal.

Be sure to check out the lyrics, too!

FoodSEKAI NO OWARI56rank/position

This is an EDM-style track featuring a heavy, weighty bass.

It’s included on the four-piece band SEKAI NO OWARI’s 2019 album “Eye.” The sound is highly addictive, making you want to listen to it over and over again—maybe even sway your body to the beat.

If you like stylish tracks, definitely give it a listen.
