The Ventures Popular Song Rankings [2026]

The Ventures, an instrumental rock band from Washington State, USA, were formed in 1959.

In Japan in particular, they stand alongside the Beatles as a band that influenced later Japanese pop and rock music.

Here is a ranking of some of their popular songs.

The Ventures Popular Song Rankings [2026] (1–10)

the taste of honeyThe Ventures8rank/position

It was the theme song for the film “Taste of Honey,” and apparently The Ventures later covered it.

I’ve heard there are versions with lyrics, but the instrumental left such a strong impression that I may have known it as a Ventures track.

The occasional drum solos are also effective and really nice.

Mission: ImpossibleThe Ventures9rank/position

It’s the theme song from a well-known American TV drama.

In movies, you usually only hear a snippet, so this was my first time listening to such a long version, and it really conveyed the protagonist’s sense of urgency.

The arrangement was interesting too.

It made me imagine the protagonist’s movements.

Murder on 10th StreetThe Ventures10rank/position

It’s said that it originally was a song from a Broadway musical.

Even so, it lets you fully savor the subtle brilliance of the guitar technique.

“Electrifying” may be an old expression, but it’s exactly that—I’m thrilled to the core.

Known as Japanophiles and hugely influential in the Japanese music scene, The Ventures here take on “Itoshi no Ellie.” Even without vocals, the guitar-driven version of this song is really cool, isn’t it? The Ventures’ sound will continue to shine forever, no matter how many decades pass.

Wandering GuitarThe Ventures12rank/position

Apparently, it was originally a hit by a Finnish group.

The original title is “Manchurian Beat,” meaning Manchuria, and the wistful lead guitar has a certain melancholy that gives it an exotic flavor, distinct from surf music.

It seems to be a song released by the British group The Shadows that reached number one.

I also felt the interesting guitar techniques of The Ventures here.

It was humorous—at times it sounded like a horse galloping, and at others the notes were so high I wondered just how high they could go.

Walk, Don’t RunThe Ventures14rank/position

The Japanese title is “More Haste, Less Speed,” and it seems Johnny Smith’s piece was later covered by The Ventures, reaching No.

2 nationwide in the U.S.

This is another track that really lets you savor The Ventures’ signature style, and it makes me happy.

I can also feel a mature, refined edge in the sound.

The featured drum work is wonderful, too.
