Foreign Music Goodbye Songs Ranking [2026]

How many classic Western songs about parting do you know?

It’s wonderful to be able to sing them at occasions celebrating a send-off.

The fact that they’re in English is key, too—the lyrics aren’t too on-the-nose, so they can subtly set the mood without drawing too much attention.

It’s one of those “if you know, you know” things!

This time, I’ve picked out tracks that have been popular on YouTube so far, so be sure to check them out.

If you’re looking for a moving farewell song, I highly recommend this track by Dean Lewis.

It’s a piece about parting with someone you love, released in August 2022.

Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis wrote it inspired by his father’s battle with illness.

How should we face the moment when goodbye arrives suddenly? The song conveys deep love and gratitude for family, as well as the inner struggle of moving forward alone.

It’s especially recommended for those who cherish family bonds or are confronting a farewell with someone important.

One Right NowPost Malone, The Weeknd73rank/position

Post Malone, The Weeknd – One Right Now
One Right NowPost Malone, The Weeknd

Released in November 2021, One Right Now is a collaboration between Post Malone and The Weeknd, two artists who command enormous support in the contemporary pop scene.

Built on a sleek synth-pop track that reflects a post-2020s trend, the interplay of Malone’s and The Weeknd’s emotional vocals and melodies creates a stunning contrast—truly exquisite.

Lyrically, however, it seems to be a message to an ex whose infidelity likely caused the breakup, conveying a sense of saying goodbye to the past relationship and already having someone new.

That said, depending on how you interpret it, it can also read as the poignant lament of a man still full of lingering attachment, unable to fully move on.

With that in mind—perhaps reading too much into it—the music video, in which the two stage a brutal shootout, feels oddly suggestive as well.

Their well-known classic “Closing Time,” released in 1998, became a major hit—topping Billboard’s Modern Rock chart and reaching high positions in Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.

Its philosophical lyrics and emotionally resonant melody perfectly capture the mood of saying goodbye.

SZA’s “Kill Bill” achieved the remarkable feat of holding the No.

1 spot for multiple weeks, leaving a vivid mark on the music scene.

The song delicately yet boldly captures the complex emotions after a breakup.

Inspired by the film, SZA’s lyricism shines as she expresses lingering feelings for a past lover and a fiery urge for revenge.

Beyond its deeply moving content, the modern synth-driven production highlights her delicate vocals.

“Kill Bill” not only dominated the charts but also resonated widely as a breakup anthem.
