Sakanaction’s classic and popular songs

Here are some songs by Sakanaction, a band that has carved out a unique place for themselves with distinctive tracks rooted in their own worldview.

I still can’t forget the time they headlined at one of the RUSH BALL festivals—the stage at Izumiotsu Phoenix, enveloped in the darkness of night and illuminated with dreamy lighting, matched their music perfectly and was truly moving.

Ichiro Yamaguchi (Vo./Gt.) is an avid angler, and some of their songs use fishing as a concept, with fishing scenes even appearing in their music videos.

Knowing that background might lead to new discoveries when you listen to their music.

This is the B-side track of Shin Takarajima.

It’s packed with funk elements, making it an easy-to-listen, upbeat song that gets you moving.

You can sense how important the Liquidroom event “NF,” hosted by Sakanaction, is to them.

Its unique worldview, as if slicing out a fragment of the city at night, is captivating.

This piece is included on Sakanaction’s album “kikUUiki,” released in March 2010.

Amid a mysterious atmosphere where reality and fiction intersect, it portrays urban loneliness and the inner conflicts of human beings.

Ichiro Yamaguchi’s delicate vocals and the band’s skillful performance weave an inventive sound that grips the listener and won’t let go.

Listening to it while walking through the city late at night may make you feel as though you’ve stepped into the world of the lyrics.

It’s a recommended track for moments when you want to reflect on yourself amid urban life.

YES NOSakanakushon

I found the melody easy to listen to.

It seems to be expressing frustration toward people who don’t give proper responses and just answer with yes or no.

It’s true that lately there are people who don’t give a proper reply even when you ask a question.

This was a song I wanted to play for those who have a bit of a problem with basic greetings.

With its standout power riffs delivered by a bold guitar, this track powerfully showcases Sakanaction’s rock musician side.

Watching the live performance, you can feel the excitement surging, and it’s the kind of song that makes you want to rush to the venue right away.

WordSakanakushon

The album NIGHT FISHING was released just six months after the previous one.

According to Mr.

Yamaguchi, this wasn’t the band’s intention, and it seems the original lyrics of this song, Word, contained criticism of that situation.

It’s said to be the song that took the longest to write on the album.

The description goes, “I was fishing alone and got lost in thought, but when I actually caught a fish and things got hectic, the meaning of what I’d been thinking about turned positive,” and the music video captures that feeling perfectly.

This song is the theme for the film “My Mighty Princess” starring Tomohisa Yamashita, and it’s said that creating a track that both upheld its role as a movie theme while still expressing Sakanaction’s distinct style was extremely challenging.

With a storyline of Yamapi watching a spider, it feels like a uniquely Sakanaction-esque piece with a singular worldview.
