Saturday songs: Classic and popular J‑Pop hits (11–20)
Dawn is not yetSaitō Sōma

If you want to savor that out-of-the-ordinary, exciting Saturday vibe, I recommend “Yoake wa Mada.” It’s a track by voice actor Soma Saito, who rose to prominence with Haikyu!! and has continued to work across a wide range of fields.
Released in 2017 as a double A-side with “Hikari Tatsu Ame,” it starts with an intro that feels like heading out to your favorite place, then sweeps you up with a sparkling pop sensibility and a funky groove.
The lyrics evoke a club, but they also seem to overlap with each listener’s own fun stage.
You might even feel like it’s okay to let loose a little! Saito’s sweet vocals are a perfect match, too.
It’s insaneTokoro Jōji

A song packed with the playful spirit that’s so typical of George Tokoro.
Part of the title riffs on “Saturday Night,” doesn’t it? It’s a track from his 1977 debut album, “George First: Keep Your Hands Off the Cash!!,” and it was used as the theme song for the variety show “TV Pirate Channel.” For some, it might bring back memories of Saturdays from back in the day.
It also carries a cool R&B vibe.
It’s exactly the kind of song you’d want to sing on a Saturday night—in the bath or at karaoke.
LA PA PARADISEBRADIO

A top pick you’ll want to play on a Saturday night: “LA PA PARADISE.” It’s the first major-label single released in 2017 by BRADIO, a rock band rooted in Black music.
With Takaaki Shingyoji’s refreshing falsetto and a smooth, funky groove, it’s the perfect party-night track.
It also has a mellow vibe, making it great for setting a romantic mood with your partner.
It’ll put you in such a good mood you’ll want to start dancing!
EverynightIshikawa Hidemi

This is the 25th single by Hidemi Ishikawa, an idol who was active in the 1980s.
It really captures the vibe of a woman putting on a brave face after being dumped by a man, feeling the pain of a Saturday night.
If you’re in the mood for a danceable track, be sure to check it out!
Foam Saturday NightMōningu Musume ’16

This is the 61st single, released in 2016.
Its disco sound, which evokes the good old days with the sentiment “Saturday nights are all about dancing till dawn!”, will make you feel nostalgic the moment you hear it.
It’s a highly popular track, even among those who aren’t fans.
World☆Saturday GraffitiPorunogurafiti

Porno Graffitti’s “World☆Saturday Graffiti” keeps you company on a Saturday when you want to dream.
It’s the B-side to their 2003 single “Uzu.” A soft rock number that playfully and brightly sings, in true Porno style, about a slightly lonely Saturday spent alone.
On Saturdays or on days before a day off, you want to cut loose or enjoy time with someone you can really relax with, right? But this song captures the gap with a reality that isn’t like that—its lyrics about a boring day are relatable and encouraging.
It works as a pep song leading into Sunday, and it’s perfect to listen to before going to sleep on Saturday!

HELLOFukuyama Masaharu

HELLO, one of Masaharu Fukuyama’s signature songs and a hit second only to Sakura Zaka, was a million seller.
The youthful charm overflowing from Fukuyama, the momentum, and the pop, bouncy band sound really make your heart race! If you’ve ever had sudden work or errands come up after you’d already made a weekend date, you’ll relate even more.
It’s spot-on for that kind of Saturday.
As the weekend begins, its freshness matches that clear, uplifting feeling.
It’s a love song that makes you want to dash out the door right now.
