Part of Your WorldToyohara Erika

When you think of summer, many people probably picture the sea.
So, the piece I’d like to introduce is Part of Your World, a song from the animated film The Little Mermaid, which is set in the ocean.
Does it ring a bell as the song where the heroine, Ariel, sings about her longing for the human world? Over the years, various versions have been released, including the original and the Japanese dub.
This time, however, I’m introducing the version sung by Erika Toyohara, who provided the dubbing for the 2023 film.
Give it a listen while recalling the film’s fantastical scenes.
blueSeishun ☆ Shuwa Shuwa Kurabu

Seishun☆Shuwa Shuwa Club is a unit made up of four creators: the hugely popular YouTuber duo favored by young people, Sky Peace, and the female YouTubers Maataso and Kasu.
It caused a buzz when Sky Peace announced they were forming a new unit! Their song “Ao,” released in 2019, features a fun music video starring the members and is packed with the message: let’s enjoy our youth to the fullest! It’s the kind of song that makes you want to listen and imagine all the fun times before summer vacation.
Mileage Love SummerNiji no Conquistador

Niji no Conquistador is a female idol group formed in 2014 through the “Tsundol! Project” produced by pixiv.
Their song “Mileage Love Summer” is irresistible, with lyrics that cutely capture the bewildered feelings of a girl falling in love and a super catchy melody! In particular, the way the pitch rises by half steps toward the end of the chorus really lifts your spirits as you listen.
If everyone listens to this song in the summer, it feels like it would instantly create a fun atmosphere!

Summer HydrangeasSexy Zone

“Summer Hydrangea,” created with the theme of hydrangeas blooming on rainy days, was released in 2021 by Sexy Zone, an idol group active since the 2010s, and was used as the theme song for She Was Pretty.
It also drew attention for having Motohiro Hata handle both the lyrics and composition.
The lyrics, which poignantly yet warmly portray a first love, leave a strong impression.
It’s perfect for elementary school students who are just beginning to feel, “I might be curious about that classmate…” Among summer songs, experience this sentimental sound that centers on “rain.”
summer festivalWhiteberry

A cute, rockin’ pop song performed by a band often considered a pioneer of Japanese girl bands.
Also a cover of JITTERIN’JINN, this track drew major attention, reaching No.
3 on the Oricon charts and was popular enough to earn a spot on the Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
That gentle girlsupittsu

Speaking of Spitz, they have so many hits that appear in music textbooks, so I’d say they’re a band every elementary school student has heard at least once.
This song is the theme for NHK’s morning drama series “Natsuzora,” performed by Spitz.
It was also covered by Yoh Yoshida and Rio Suzuki in a Pocari Sweat commercial, if you remember.
Just listening to it brings to mind the face of someone dear to you—such a gentle song.
It’s also popular as a choral piece, so why not try singing it together with your whole class?
My Past Life, Many Lifetimes AgoRADWIMPS

It’s one of the theme songs by RADWIMPS for the animated film Your Name, which was released in theaters in 2016.
Since it’s an anime theme song, it’s a popular track that even young children know.
Its up-tempo rhythm is perfect for the hot summer!
