Sumire September Loveippūdō

“Sumire” in September.
It feels strange, but it seems this was a time when tie-ins with TV commercials could create hits, and many say the song may have been made with the campaign’s catchphrase first.
Title aside, the track exudes a mysterious vibe.
Don’t you kind of feel like listening to it around September? It’s not very popular among Ippu-Do fans, but SHAZNA’s cover—both its arrangement and the song’s inherent eeriness—fits so well that I personally recommend it.
Midsummer FruitSazan Ōrusutāzu

When you think of summer, it’s got to be Southern All Stars.
But personally, I feel this song becomes even more captivating when you listen to it in autumn.
It’s the kind of track I want to take in alone, watching the sunset on a deserted beach after summer has ended and fall has arrived.
It also made waves when EXILE covered it.
Night Sky (feat. Haji→)miwa

A duet song by miwa and Hajime.
You can imagine them singing while gazing at the night sky.
The poignant feelings and call-and-response between the two are the highlights of this track, and the lyrics where the solo and harmonies overlap are especially memorable.
It’s a ballad you can listen to at a leisurely pace.
cosmos (flower)Yamaguchi Momoe

This is the song “Cosmos” (Akizakura) by the legendary idol Momoe Yamaguchi, released in 1977.
The lyrics and music were written by Masashi Sada, well known for the theme song of “From the North Country.” Until releasing this song, Momoe Yamaguchi had pursued a tough, rebellious image.
By deliberately showcasing her demure side with this song, she underwent an image change.
Either way, with her beautiful, alluring voice, Momoe Yamaguchi remains a legendary idol Japan is proud of to this day!
moonlightOnitsuka Chihiro

A timeless masterpiece that blends gentleness with fragility, like moonlight pouring down on a quiet night.
The lyrics, which gently accompany those bearing loneliness and despair, combined with Chihiro Onitsuka’s overwhelming vocal power, stir listeners to their core.
Released in March 2001, the song was also chosen as the theme for the TV drama “TRICK,” drawing major attention for its mysterious atmosphere.
When you’re feeling lost about yourself or life, or yearning for someone’s support, listening to it will fill you with a warmth that seeps into your heart.
This work remains one of Onitsuka’s signature songs, cherished by many to this day.
In conclusion
Ballads that resonate across time—the ones you want to hear in September. As summer draws to a close, melodies carried by the sweet, wistful autumn breeze gently nestle deep within our hearts. May a new song be added to your cherished memories as you spend the long autumn nights with music. This is the beginning of a season where you’ll encounter voices that seep into the soul.
