Hero Owl

If you want to make an owl that’s a little different from the usual, how about this hero-inspired idea? Use a pine cone as the base.
Cut the face and wing parts out of felt, but add a twist! Instead of using ordinary brown felt, imagine a hero’s decorations and craft the pieces with armor- and shield-like designs.
Even the cute eyes can take on a cool, raptor-like look by adding just one extra piece.
Finish it as your ideal hero owl.
Pine Cone Owl – Christmas Decoration

Would you like to make an owl Christmas ornament? Start with a pine cone as the owl’s base and attach eyes, wings, and a beak cut from thin leather or felt.
Then add a red triangular hat made from fabric or a yarn pom-pom to give it a Santa-style look.
Your owl is now complete! Next, glue the owl onto a base made from cardboard and decorate around it with faux greenery, nuts, and other natural accents.
You can leave the cardboard as is, or paint it white and add cotton to create a snowy scene.
Owl made of horse chestnuts and pine cones

Here’s an idea for making an owl using a pine cone, horse chestnut shells, and tree branches.
Cut off the base of the pine cone and attach sticker eyes.
Use the split horse chestnut shells to add decorative feathers, a beak, side wings, and back feathers.
Make feet on a base using small twigs, then glue on the owl body you just made.
Your pine cone owl is complete.
You’ll be cutting the horse chestnut shells with scissors, so please be careful not to get hurt.
You can also use a colored ginkgo nut for the beak.
A beautiful owl made with yarn and pine cones

Perfect for winter decorations! Here’s a beautiful owl idea that can also be used as an ornament.
Glue a looped string to the bottom of a pine cone for hanging.
Wrap yarn around your fingers several times, tie the center with string to make a bow, then attach it at the base of the string you just glued.
Add a yarn ball for the beak and a tassel-shaped piece of yarn for the back wings.
For the side wings, make pom-poms and glue them on.
For the eyes, wrap yarn around your fingers like the bow to form rings, then stitch or weave more yarn around the rings and place a black bead in the center.
Attach the eyes to the front of the pine cone, and you’re done.
Owl decorations with a focus on feathers

Let’s make an owl you can hang on the wall as a decoration.
First, cut out the owl’s base from cardboard.
Take apart a pine cone into individual scales, and start gluing them onto the base along with a tree branch.
Glue the branch to the lower part of the base, and use the pine cone scales on the other areas to create the wings.
Make two round bases for the eyes out of cardboard, then glue jute twine onto them in a spiral.
Attach the black pupils cut from felt.
Glue on the beak, add a string for hanging, and you’re done.
Autumn fruits

Let’s introduce a fall craft: making persimmons using newspaper, whose unique texture and tones are just right for the season.
Tear the colored sections and arrange them to form the shape of a persimmon.
Glue the pieces onto paper to build the persimmon shape.
Tear thin, long strips for the stem as well.
To add a bit of dimension, crumple some pieces before gluing or layer them; this creates movement and results in a delicious-looking, autumnal persimmon.
Deciding on the size and shape of the fruit you want to make beforehand can help you visualize it better and make the process easier.
A calendar made with stamps

These days, it’s easy to get all kinds of things.
Supplies for craft activities with seniors are also easy to gather.
So, let’s make a calendar using stamps you can find at 100-yen shops or online.
Prepare seasonal stamps or ones that evoke summer or July.
Press the stamps onto the calendar base.
It’s simple to make, so many seniors will likely find it approachable.
You could also add a short message to the calendar.
Calendar bases are available at 100-yen shops and online as well, so give it a try!
