SquallFukuyama Masaharu

A self-cover by Masaharu Fukuyama of a song he originally provided as the second single for female singer-songwriter Eiko Matsumoto.
The original was used as an insert song in the TV drama Perfect Love!, in which he starred, and it’s a poignant ballad portraying love from a woman’s perspective.
In the self-cover, Fukuyama’s whispery low voice blends with the song’s atmosphere to bring out a fresh charm.
It’s a recommended number for those moments when you want to slowly immerse yourself while gazing at the rainy sky.
Like a white cloudsaruganseki

If you watched the variety show “Susume! Denpa Shonen,” this will bring back memories.
The comedy duo Saruganseki released the song “Shiroi Kumo no Yō ni” in 1996, and it became a massive hit.
The lyrics, which seemed to capture the feelings of the two as they traveled for a show segment, grabbed listeners’ hearts.
Although many years have passed since its release, it remains a popular choice at karaoke.
Its melody also charms with a feel that conjures up a clear, sunny blue sky.
Incidentally, the lyrics were written by Fumiya Fujii, the former lead vocalist of The Checkers.
Separate skiesKing&Prince

It portrays the feelings of two people who are forced to part ways in the process of chasing their dreams.
The expression of the sky enveloping the two of them isn’t something you hear often, so it feels fresh.
The melody, rhythmically marked over the smooth, mellow sound, and the members’ vocals are pleasant—catchy and easy to listen to.
In particular, Kishi’s powerful singing in the latter half is a real highlight! Parting is painful, but thinking that we’re both doing our best under different skies gives me courage.
I think it’s a hidden gem on King & Prince’s first album, “King & Prince.”
Upside-Down SkySMAP

A SMAP song, beloved across generations even after the group disbanded, that was chosen as the theme for NHK’s morning drama series “Umechan-sensei.” The title expresses the sky you see when lying down, and the song gently cheers you on, saying “You don’t have to try too hard,” while recalling the times when you chased your old dreams.

Orange KissSnow Man

Orange Kiss is the seventh single by the nine-member Johnny’s group Snow Man, released on July 13, 2022.
It was written specifically for the film My Boyfriend in Orange, starring group member Hikaru Iwamoto.
The “orange” in the title evokes the image of dusk, and the song is a heart-throbbing love tune set against an orange-tinted evening sky.
Pay attention to its emotional sound and melody, too! The lyrics are moving as they depict protecting someone else while growing yourself, so give it a listen while gazing up at the twilight sky.
moonlightOnitsuka Chihiro

This is the second single by female singer-songwriter Chihiro Onitsuka, who made her major debut in 2000 and has also performed as the vocalist for Chihiro Onitsuka & BILLYS SANDWITCHES since 2013.
The song was used as the theme for the TV drama “TRICK,” and is well known for showcasing the extraordinary talent of Chihiro Onitsuka to the world.
With its mystical lyrics and deeply resonant vocals, it’s the kind of piece that makes you want to look up at the moonlit sky as you listen.
Powerful yet crystal-clear melodies make this a moving and soul-stirring number.
blue skyKetsumeishi

As the first release commemorating the 20th anniversary of the major-label debut of the four-member rap group Ketsumeishi, “Aozora” was released digitally on April 21, 2021.
The song was also featured in a collaborative commercial by JAL and Coca-Cola, offering comfort to the many people whose student lives were disrupted by COVID-19.
It’s a gentle, encouraging track for those overwhelmed by daily life or tending to stay indoors.
Sometimes just looking up at the ever-unchanging blue sky can be enough to save you.
The music video, made in collaboration with comedians, is also a must-see!
