Popular independent VTubers | Selected from Twitch and YouTube!
In recent years, the VTuber scene has been gaining momentum.
While many stars are born every day—especially from NIJISANJI, hololive, VSPO, and Neo-Porte—we mustn’t forget the independents!
Lately, independent VTubers, who generally face fewer restrictions on what they can say, have been collaborating with a wide range of major streamers.
Some VTubers even have their own TV or radio shows.
So this time, we’ve spotlighted some of the most popular independent VTubers who are on a remarkable rise!
If you’d rather support independents than big-agency VTubers, this is a must-see!

Popular Independent VTubers | Selected from Twitch and YouTube! (1–10)
pīnattsu-kun

Peanuts-kun, the maverick of the VTuber world.
He has a distinctly unique look even among VTubers, and he’s even ventured into the real world wearing a mascot suit.
Just the other day, he appeared on rapper Kan a.k.a.
GAMI’s channel and showed off some serious head credentials.
At the same time, he’s had hilarious interactions with members of NIJISANJI, making his range of activities top-tier even among independent creators.
If you’re looking for a VTuber with a laid-back, mascot-like cuteness, he’s a must-see!
Nachoneko

VTuber Nachoneko is known for her sweet, soothing voice.
She’s affectionately called Nacho by many fans.
She also has another side as an illustrator under the name Amatsuki Natsuki.
Remarkably, she designed Gawr Gura, the most popular VTuber in the world, and also did the character design for Akami Karubi, a top-tier independent VTuber.
As a streamer, she has a very laid-back pace; her charm lies in her gentle demeanor and unshakable composure in any situation.
Be sure to check her out.
Tomari Mari

The cutest old man in the world, Tomari Mari.
She’s an indie VTuber and one of the so-called “Babiniku” streamers—men who use female avatars and stream as women.
Her biggest draw is, without a doubt, her gameplay.
She seems to have an exceptionally well-honed “gamer brain,” boasting such strong gaming instincts that she quickly figures out strategies even in games she’s playing for the first time.
Her talk skills are top-notch as well—her banter with Gatchman is especially recommended.
A talented indie VTuber who can entertain you with both gaming and conversation.

dīpu burizādo

Deep Blizzard is an indie VTuber with a striking, nonconformist beastman appearance.
He’s also known as an illustrator, and on YouTube he primarily posts how-to videos about illustration and manga.
If you use CLIP STUDIO, you’ve probably seen his videos at least once.
His biggest charm is, above all, his gentle way of speaking.
In contrast to his beastman look, his manner of speech is incredibly mild, and combined with his raspy, low voice, many say it’s perfect for helping you fall asleep.
His art skills are top-tier as well, so be sure to check out his illustrations.
yoru yoichi

Yo Yoichi is an illustrator.
They sometimes show their face with a mask and even stream on location outdoors, so they’re not strictly a VTuber, but thanks to their success, we’ve made a special exception and included them in the ranking this time.
They originally only had a standing illustration, but after getting a sponsor, they debuted as a VTuber using Live2D.
Despite giving off unmistakably otaku vibes, they have a slightly strong-willed attitude that’s irresistibly appealing to many men.
rozekkupin

Rozekupin is an indie VTuber with a naturally teasing-friendly vibe that really stands out.
She originally belonged to Studio Coup, but recently started working independently.
Her biggest charm is, without a doubt, her lovable clumsiness.
Despite having impressive skills—self-made animation, music composition, and high-level video editing—her endearing incompetence shows up in hilarious ways when she plays games.
Her slip-ups in Street Grand Theft (SutoGura) are especially funny, and pretty much every streamer teases her about them.
She hasn’t exactly blown up yet, but if she joins events like VCR, there’s a chance she could break out big, like Akami Karubi did.
If you’re on the lookout for hidden gems, you should definitely keep an eye on her!
nekomasu

A legend of the VTuber world on par with Kizuna AI, Kaguya Luna, Mirai Akari, and Dennou Shojo Siro, he was popular even back when VTubers weren’t widely known.
Nekomasu’s other name is “Virtual Noja-Loli Fox Girl YouTuber Old Man.” Quite an unforgettable name, right? After keeping his VTuber activities relatively low-key for a long time, Nekomasu fully resumed activities in 2021.
Today, he’s loved by many fans as a legend indispensable to the history of independent VTubers.
