Based on melodies long cherished in Japan, this work was reimagined by Japanese composer Kozaburo Hirai as a fantasy that can be enjoyed as a piano solo.
It begins with a gentle introduction, and in the middle section a drum-like rhythm emerges, evoking the vibrancy of a festival.
The piece then draws to a quiet close.
It’s as if the music paints a scene of springtime in Japan.
Highly recommended for those interested in traditional Japanese music or who want to enjoy classical music from Japan.

Suffused with a romantic atmosphere, this piece was presented in 1888 by Edward Elgar to his beloved fiancée, Caroline Alice Roberts, as an engagement gift.
It is characterized by an elegant, sweet melody and is cherished as music for weddings and anniversaries.
Although composed for violin and piano, it can be enjoyed in various arrangements, including solo piano and orchestral versions.
Its syncopated rhythms are striking: it begins gently, modulates in the middle section, then returns to the main theme and builds to an exultant close.

Trout (arranged by Liszt)Franz Schubert

This piece is a piano solo arrangement of a song by Franz Schubert, made by Franz Liszt.
Through the story of a trout swimming in a clear stream and the fisherman who aims to catch it, it conveys a lesson about life.
Liszt adds brilliant, piano-specific virtuosity without diminishing the original’s beauty.
Arpeggios and ornaments that evoke the flow of the river and the movements of the trout are used effectively, rendering visual scenes through sound.
It is recommended for those interested in the beauty of nature and the morals of human society, as well as for listeners who enjoy technically dazzling piano performances.
Violin Sonata No. 5 “Spring”Ludwig van Beethoven

The great composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
When you think of Beethoven, weighty compositions come to mind first, but he is also well known for gentle works that evoke spring.
Among them, one piece I particularly recommend is the Violin Sonata No.
5 “Spring.” The work, themed around spring, superbly expresses the lively atmosphere of the season as various plants and flowers sprout.
Though serene, it is also a brisk piece, so even in a solo piano arrangement it leaves a brilliant, springlike impression.
Papillons No. 2, Op. 2 in E-flat majorRobert Schumann

Composer Robert Schumann, renowned for his gentle works, is also extremely popular in Japan.
Among Schumann’s pieces, one I especially recommend for spring is Papillons No.
2 in E-flat major, Op.
2.
This work was inspired by Jean Paul Richter’s novel Flegeljahre (The Awkward Age), by the German poet of fantasy.

A majestic piano piece that colors the theme of the architectural documentary program “Extreme Makeover!! Dramatic Before & After” was born in April 2002.
Its memorable, piano-centered melody resonates deeply with listeners, further enhancing the program’s most moving scenes.
This work is an instrumental that harmonizes a powerful rhythm with richly emotional melodies, embodying true craftsmanship.
The piano’s charm—both brilliant and delicate—also evokes a sense of spring, as its beautiful melody quietly reaches the heart.
Joy of LoveFritz Kreisler

It is a light, dance-like piece that incorporates elements of the traditional Viennese waltz, characterized by a bright and cheerful melody.
The work conveys joy and delight to the listener, expressing a sense of happiness that wells up from deep within.
Composed as part of the “Three Old Viennese Dances” published in 1905, it was initially presented as a work by a 19th-century composer.
While it is often performed as a violin and piano duo, there are also arrangements for solo piano and other instrumental combinations.
Widely cherished as a classic of classical music, it is frequently used in films, television programs, and commercials.
With its lively, sparkling melody, this piece is also recommended for beginners to classical music.
