RAG MusicBand
A wonderful Japanese music band

A hidden gem by T-BOLAN. A precious number I want to keep singing and listening to.

T-BOLAN, a rock band that was hugely successful in the 1990s.

Their songs, which sing of straightforward love despite a certain clumsiness, are truly captivating.

Their mega-hits “Hanashitaku wa Nai” and “Bye For Now” are widely known and beloved at karaoke.

From 2023 to 2024, they embarked on a tour pledging to perform all their singles, and in 2025, a 47-prefecture tour featuring their hit songs also became a hot topic.

In this article, we’ll introduce some of T-BOLAN’s hidden gems.

Please enjoy the exquisite tracks born from Arashi Moritomo’s moving vocals and the band’s outstanding musicianship.

SO BADT-BOLAN

SO BADT-BOLAN

“SO BAD” is a rock track that gives a taste of the later-released single “SHAKE IT.” When I listen to this song, I can’t help but picture the city at night.

It’s the kind of track that fits when you’ve wandered into a cold, artificial urban night.

The sound and lyrics vividly portray a man slipping into depravity.

I want to become the kind of adult I always admired.T-BOLAN

Even now that we’ve both gotten older, a good song is still a good song.

It’s really cool.

The guitar sounds great, and the singing captures that live vibe really well.

The parts where it’s sung with a slightly husky tone, almost like a shout, are super cool and carry a sense of poignancy.

Muddy EpilogueT-BOLAN

Muddy EpilogueT-BOLAN

From their fourth album, HEART OF STONE, this is “Dorodarake no Epilogue” (Muddy Epilogue).

It’s also the title of Arashi Moritomo’s only book.

There may be cool jobs like rock band members or celebrities, but it feels like it’s telling us that everyone starts from the same place, nothing really sets us apart, and I’m no different either.

The sound is characteristically T-BOLAN—great song.

Only Lonely Crazy HeartT-BOLAN

With its upbeat tempo, it might not fit the typical image of T-BOLAN, but they really deliver.

I used to listen to it all the time while driving.

I love the way this song is sung—it’s so cool.

Now I can listen to it with a fresh feeling.

The transience of glassT-BOLAN

The transience of glassT-BOLAN

It’s “Glass Ephemerality,” included on T-BOLAN’s third original album, “SO BAD.” T-BOLAN’s songs aren’t unreservedly bright; many of them carry a certain shadow.

Later, T-BOLAN went through periods when Arashi Moritomo lost his voice, leading to disbandment and reunions, and I think that hint of fragility you can feel from them is part of their appeal.

I can’t erase this fleeting sadness.T-BOLAN

The way it starts with that guitar reminds me of old J-pop.

It’s a cool song.

Moritomo is the best.

The vocals are great.

It was even used as a TV theme song.

The catchy, upbeat chorus is really good, too.

I used to listen to it a lot while driving.

Embrace all your scarsT-BOLAN

From the double A-side single “Setsunasa wo Kese Ya Shinai” and “Kizudarake wo Dakishimete,” this is “Kizudarake wo Dakishimete.” It was used as the CM song for Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s “Fibe-Mini.” It’s a song with interesting rhythm patterns throughout.

I like T-BOLAN’s sound that leans more toward rock, and this track really showcases that appeal.
