Thank youSMAP

This is SMAP’s 40th single, released on October 11, 2006, and the second installment commemorating the 15th anniversary of their CD debut.

The jacket design was handled by Shingo Katori.

You can feel the gratitude toward the people who have loved them, especially toward their mother.

dear grandmaKyūshūdan

When I was little, an angel was always by my side.

That’s how I sing about my grandmother.

She’s gone now, but looking back, I realize how deeply she showered me with love, and I want to say “thank you” from the bottom of my heart.

Regret over not recognizing her true kindness at the time, the words I wanted to say but couldn’t—these bring back the bittersweet, sorrow-tinged memories of childhood that everyone carries in their hearts.

FUNKY MONKEY BABYS “Thank You”
Thank youFUNKY MONKEY BABYS

The closer the relationship, the more embarrassing it is to express your gratitude anew.

But this song makes you feel like taking just one step of courage to say it! Whether it’s thanking someone for raising you with care, or feelings you’ve always wanted to share but haven’t been able to—anything is okay.

Imperial Regent Declarationsadamasashi

From the perspective of modern women, domineering, old-fashioned husbands might not be very popular.

To be honest, I also find myself thinking, “What a selfish husband!” But as I kept listening to the song, I began to feel that, in a sense, this too is one possible form of family.

The lyrics present the husband’s “I want you to be like this” message to his wife in everyday spoken language, which makes it easy to understand, and Masashi Sada’s voice is so beautiful that both the lyrics and the melody just flow right in.
