Hikaru Utada’s famous and popular songs

Let me introduce some songs by Hikaru Utada, a singer-songwriter who made her debut at the young age of 15.

She abruptly announced a hiatus from artistic activities in 2010, calling it a period of “human activities,” but resumed her work as an artist in 2016.

Utada is the daughter of enka singer Keiko Fuji and was born and raised in the United States.

On television she comes across as lighthearted and humorous, but while attending school in the U.S.

she reportedly skipped grades, and later enrolled at the prestigious Columbia University.

Hikaru Utada’s Best and Most Popular Songs (91–100)

A.S.A.P.Utada Hikaru

People who like Tunnels might be reminded of the song with the same title by Takaaki Ishibashi & Shizuka Kudo.

This track is the eighth song on Hikaru Utada’s third album, “DEER RIVER.” The title A.S.A.P comes from the initials of “As soon as possible,” a phrase some of you may have heard in English class.

It’s a rhythmically tight, punchy song.

Goddess of the StormUtada Hikaru

A song said to have been written for her mother.

It’s included on the 2010 album “Utada Hikaru SINGLE COLLECTION VOL.2.” Hikaru Utada grew up in a complicated family, and her mother struggled with mental illness.

Her mother was Keiko Fuji, a celebrated Showa-era singer who passed away in 2013 at the age of 62.

This masterpiece is filled with many feelings—her admiration for her mother as a singer, as well as love, forgiveness, and more.

The Ayataka commercial “New Ayataka: Encounter,” featuring Hikaru Utada and set to the re-recorded version of her signature song “traveling (Re-Recording),” has a cool finish, showing Utada striding confidently through the city while drinking Ayataka.

“traveling (Re-Recording)” is included on the album “SCIENCE FICTION,” released in April 2024, and is characterized by a refined sound that feels like an updated take on the original.

HAYATOCHI-REMIXUtada Hikaru

A remixed version of “Hayatochiri,” the B-side to the fifth single “Wait & See ~Risk~.” Following the debut album “First Love,” it was included as a bonus track at the very end of the second album “Distance,” released on March 28, 2001.

Since the original single version is also available as a download, it might be interesting to compare the two.
