“Clock Lock Works” is a work released under the name Hachi, the Vocaloid producer alias of Kenshi Yonezu, a singer-songwriter active at the top of the Japanese music scene.

Published in November 2009, its whimsical, fantastical world instantly captured listeners’ hearts and quickly joined the ranks of popular songs.

Beyond the track itself, the animated music video by Minakata Laboratory also drew attention.

In the chorus, Miku playing the bass moves incredibly smoothly.

It has the feel of a nursery rhyme with a hint of darkness, a quality that connects to Yonezu’s current style.

The lyrics incorporating tongue twisters are, above all, overwhelmingly high-sense.

It’s a track by PinocchioP, a composer who remains at the forefront of the Vocaloid scene and hardly needs an introduction, released in May 2023.

It’s included on his sixth album, META, released the same year.

While it’s a poppy, upbeat song, the lyrics—asking for kindness when you mess up—also feel like a cynical message to modern society.

That blend of the pure and the impure is exactly what defines the PinocchioP world.

KardiaYurii Kanon

It’s a tense Vocaloid track that balances a gothic atmosphere with cool flair.

Created by Vocaloid producer Yurii Canon, known for hits like “If I Could Be Someone’s Heart” and “Suicide Parade,” it was released in March 2023.

The title “Cardia” comes from Greek for “heart.” Drawn by its myth-like worldview, you can feel your emotions stirred by its strong-willed message.

Give it a listen when you’re in the mood for something fiery.

“Netsu-fū” (Hot Wind) is a song produced by Vocaloid producer kemu, released in September 2024.

Created to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the rhythm game “Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!” (Project SEKAI), it features energetic lyrics themed around hope for the future and relentless challenge that really resonate.

Give it a listen when you need the courage to move forward or want to ignite your spirit!

one yaku (a traditional Chinese/Japanese measure of volume; also used metaphorically for a small amount)Aneiro

I’m blown away by the creativity packed into every single character.

This is a work released by Aneiro in February 2024, which took 2nd place in the Rookie Ranking at Vocalo Collection 2024 Winter.

With Unicode as its theme, it skillfully—and avant‑gardely—expresses the meanings and emotions inherent in kanji.

In the music video, the motion of the characters and the music are perfectly in sync, making it a piece you can enjoy with both your eyes and ears.

It’s a must-listen for anyone captivated by the beauty of written characters or looking to rediscover the power of words.

Decadismnuyuri

This track is packed with cool, stylish vibes, with the guitar and piano making a bold statement.

It starts off at a relaxed pace, picks up to an uptempo feel just before the vocals come in, and then surges into a soaring, hard-hitting chorus.

It’s the kind of song you don’t try to sing so much as find yourself humming along to without thinking—one I can highly recommend for its effortless charm.

a heart that buds (with new feelings)ichi ni san

A track by Hifumi, a Vocaloid producer known for numerous works that fuse traditional Japanese instruments with rock.

It opens with an ensemble of shakuhachi and koto, then suddenly shifts into a robust, guitar-driven rock sound—a structure that will be irresistible to fans of Japanese-style rock.

The distorted, power chord–driven guitar meshes seamlessly with lyrics that use archaic expressions and a vocal melody based on traditional Japanese scales, resulting in a song you’ll want to replay over and over.

It’s not only fun to listen to, but also a great pick for karaoke or for performing with a band.
