be someoneChris Bangs

Chris Bangs is an Acid Jazz DJ and the person who came up with the name “Acid Jazz.” He reportedly got the idea at an event called Special Branch held in 1988 at the Watermans Arts Centre in Brentford, Middlesex, UK, when he played The Art of Noise’s “The Feast” and saw the word “ACID” flashing behind the DJ booth.

He adopted a DJ style of sequencing Funk → Jazz Funk → Funky Fusion → Fusion, which became the foundation of Acid Jazz.

His ideal was to create a crossover atmosphere on the floor where race didn’t matter and everyone mixed together.
