Walk This WayAerosmith

Unlike rock music that sticks to a straight 8-beat, this is a signature Joe Perry phrase with a groove sensibility shaped by funk.
The song itself appears on the classic 1975 album “Toys in the Attic,” but the 1986 cover by RUN DMC also made music history by achieving the first true fusion of rap and rock.
Be sure to check out the iconic music video as well—it clearly shows the relationship and distance between hip-hop and rock at the time!
I Want You BackThe Jackson 5

The moment the intro starts, this huge Jackson 5 hit just puts you in a good mood.
It was their first single released after signing with Motown in 1969, and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
In Japan, it’s better known by its Japanese title, “Kaette Hoshii no” (“I Want You Back”).
Needless to say, Michael Jackson’s fresh, youthful vocals are amazing, and the chic guitar choppy rhythm and the rhythmic piano are truly wonderful.
Little WingJimi Hendrix

Among the songs left by Jimi Hendrix—the god of the electric guitar and an eternal guitar hero—this is a particularly simple, compact, and melodic ballad.
The intro, with its distinctly Hendrix-like use of sparkling counter-melodies woven into the main line and its exquisite chordal obbligato, can be called a legendary phrase in rock history.
If you can learn to play it solidly, you’ll likely feel a real sense of satisfaction—enough to know you’ve grown as a guitarist.
Wanted Dead Or AliveBon Jovi

Bon Jovi is a rock band that’s hugely popular in Japan as well.
They’re one of America’s representative hard rock bands and have produced numerous classic songs to this day.
Among their works, a standout track I especially recommend for its cool intro is “Wanted Dead or Alive.” It’s a power ballad rooted in glam metal, but its intro—beginning with a blues-like guitar sound—creates a uniquely atmospheric vibe.
It’s an incredibly stylish and cool piece, so be sure to check it out.
Dance the NightDua Lipa

The moment the dazzling, 70s disco-style string intro bursts in, listeners are instantly drawn into Dua Lipa’s music! Released as the lead single from the soundtrack Barbie the Album for the 2023 film Barbie, it became one of the year’s biggest hits.
Blending pop and disco elements, the track celebrates the joy of dancing the night away and self-expression—perfect for amping up any party.
The lyrics contrast inner emotions with outward sparkle, portraying a determined spirit that stands strong in the face of challenges.
With its bright, uplifting message, this song is sure to give listeners energy and courage.

AHHH HALil Durk

I’d like to introduce “AHHH HA” as a song with a slightly unusual intro.
It’s a track by Lil Durk and serves as a response to YoungBoy’s “Bring The Hook.” “Bring The Hook” contains disses aimed at Lil Durk’s friend, the late King Von, and this song counters those with some very strong language.
In the intro, it also prefaces that the lyrics are fictional.
When Doves CryPrince

This is the lead single from the landmark, monster album Purple Rain and a celebrated masterpiece widely regarded as one of Prince’s signature songs.
Even the Japanese title—“Beat ni Dakarete,” with its distinctly ’80s vibe—is fantastic.
Although Prince handled the instrumentation himself, that cool, hard-rock-style guitar you hear in the intro actually never returns after those opening bars.
In fact, the bass is completely omitted as well.
Take a fresh listen to the unique sensibility that turns this sparse, synth-driven arrangement into a flawless track.
