A Tribe Called Quest is a hip-hop group that formed in 1988 and disbanded in 1998.

Their active period was only ten years, but thanks to their many innovations, they’re still revered as legendary figures today.

Among their works, the album The Low End Theory, released in 1991, sent shockwaves through the hip-hop scene of the time.

It blends hard-hitting hip-hop with a light, jazz-infused sound.

Even today, their musical style is breathtaking to hear.

Energize MeAfter Forever

This is a Dutch band that released its debut album in 1999 and enjoyed popularity as a top-tier presence in the gothic metal scene until their breakup in 2009.

Leading the charge as the face of the band was vocalist Floor Jansen, a female singer with a background in musical theatre and opera who also teaches vocals.

With a voice capable of everything from beautiful, operatic tones to powerful shouts, she proved her talent after the band’s dissolution by officially joining Nightwish, the world-famous Finnish symphonic metal band.

She leans more toward a rock-oriented style, so they’re highly recommended even for those who haven’t listened to much gothic metal.

When a certain genre of music becomes a craze and you want a quick feel for the scene’s energy, compilation albums are your best friend.

Of course, plenty of compilations have been released for acid jazz as well, and the 1991 release “Acid Jazz: Collection Two” is precisely a disc that meets that demand.

The track being introduced here is the album’s closer, featuring an exceptionally cool arrangement that deftly samples Pharoah Sanders’s beloved classic “You’ve Got To Have Freedom,” a perennial favorite for sampling.

It’s also recommended for those who want to discover more niche artists who haven’t necessarily released a lot of albums.

This song features a pleasant melody and warm harmonies that evoke a calm seaside scene.

Known as one of Air Supply’s signature works, it was included on the album “Now and Forever,” released in June 1982.

The lyrics gently portray a man’s feelings as he, after a lost love, finds a new romance—moving from loneliness to hope, expressed through Air Supply’s characteristically soft vocals.

It’s the perfect track for peaceful moments, whether you’re on your way to or from the beach, or spending a quiet night with someone special.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to soothe their heart.

This work, brought to you by two artists who represent the music scenes of Norway and the United Kingdom, is a track that beautifully captures the bittersweetness of summer.

Born from the collaboration between Alan Walker and Zak Abel, the song was released in July 2023.

Its festival-like sound pairs perfectly with lyrics that depict the moment a lost love returns.

Expressing a sensation akin to the magic of an endless summer, this piece will resonate with those nursing a wistful love or mourning the end of the season.

It’s best enjoyed on a beach at sunset.

Alex Lahey is a singer-songwriter from Melbourne, Australia.

Her straightforward rock numbers run counter to recent trends and have an energy you don’t often find in other singer-songwriters.

I’d love to try jogging along the riverside while listening to this.

Everybody’s Gonna Love Somebody by Alfie Templeman, a young talent from the UK, was released in 2021.

It’s impressive enough that he was only 18 at the time, but what I’d really like to highlight is that he openly professes his love for Japanese city pop, citing influences from artists like Makoto Matsushita and Kingo Hamada.

The vivid guitar and soulful saxophone catch the ear, and his impeccable sense for crafting an ’80s synth-pop vibe is simply breathtaking.

If you’re into singer-songwriters, be sure to give it a listen!
