Moving Western songs: Classic and popular tracks among the world's most emotional songs (11–20)
Someone You LovedLewis Capaldi

It’s a song that can be heard as a cry from a heart in pain.
“Someone You Loved,” released in 2019 by Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi and nominated for a Grammy, tells the story of a protagonist who has lost the person they loved, who loved them back, and with whom they supported each other.
“I was just getting used to being the one you loved,” they sing, expressing the anguish of loss.
Lewis’s slightly distorted vocal timbre makes the song feel even more real and emotional.
It’s a masterpiece that truly strikes a chord in the heart.
Concavo Y convexoDiego El Cigala

Diego El Cigala, known as the king of flamenco, enjoys immense popularity and support in the flamenco scene.
As befits someone hailed as a king in the traditional flamenco world, his ability as a vocalist ranks among the very best in the world.
A moving piece by this great artist that I highly recommend is Concavo y convexo.
It’s a simple arrangement of just piano and vocals, yet it carries a profound, weighty atmosphere.
The composition is so meticulously crafted that even the melody alone is enough to move you—be sure to give it a listen.
Eblouie par la nuitZAZ

Zaz, the most beloved female singer in France.
In today’s French music scene, she is the most popular and adored by the most fans.
While her charming personality is one factor, the top reason is surely her high musicality and vocal technique.
In “Éblouie par la nuit,” you can savor both her musicianship and vocals—it’s a moving masterpiece.
The lyrics are crafted to be very intricate, making their true meaning hard to grasp, but be sure to check the Japanese translation and find your own interpretation.
Anywhere Away from HereRag’n’Bone Man & P!nk

The masterpiece “Anywhere Away from Here” is a collaboration between British artist Rag’n’Bone Man—who gained worldwide popularity with his 2016 single “Human”—and American R&B singer Pink.
The lyrics are quite enigmatic and difficult to interpret, but they likely express something akin to human nature: dreaming of a sliver of hope even in the face of despair.
The melody is deeply moving, so be sure to check it out.
Hymne A L’amourÉdith Piaf

Edith Piaf, a singer who represents France.
She was already active as a singer during World War II, and perhaps because of that background, her vocals carry a real sense of conviction.
Among her works, the piece I especially recommend as a moving masterpiece is “Hymne à l’amour.” Released in 1950, it portrays profound love and is known in Japanese as “Ai no Sanka” (Hymn to Love).
The lyrics are truly beautiful, so be sure to check out the Japanese translation as well.
