Many people in Japan probably think of fireworks when they hear “summer.”

Fireworks that spread across the night sky after a festival, as well as those enjoyed with family, are scenes that evoke a deep sense of nostalgia for Japanese people.

While it’s easy to find songs about fireworks in Japanese music, it can be surprisingly difficult to immediately name a few Western songs that “sing about fireworks.”

Their signature song “Eternal Flame” is beloved in Japan as a wedding standard and as a TV drama theme.

Since its Japanese title is rendered as “Mune Ippai no Ai” (A Heart Full of Love), some of you may know it by that name.

Although fireworks don’t appear in the song’s lyrics, they are used strikingly in the music video.

The choice to feature fireworks—something that flare up and vanish—in the MV for “Eternal Flame,” which means a flame that burns forever, seems to carry a profound message.
