This track, with an MV whose graphics exude a distinctly 70s vibe, brilliantly blends live instruments with the broad, free-spirited electronic sounds of the synthesizer—a cutting-edge technology of the era—alongside drums and bass.

Topped with Amii Stewart’s soulful vocals, it’s a feel-good disco hit from the 1970s.

Ananda Project, a house music project led by Chris Brann.

Even within dance music, he has left behind highly musical, high-quality works.

And this is the piece that’s especially popular in Japan.

While it may not have the same momentum it once did, I often saw it played during closing sets at Body & Soul, a festival specializing in house music.

It’s very catchy, yet has a calm vibe—quintessential deep house.

Anderson .Paak – King James (Official Audio)
King JamesAnderson .Paak

In 2021, Anderson .Paak, whose duo with Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic, became a huge sensation, was everywhere both as a singer-songwriter and as a producer.

His 2019 release King James is a gem with an irresistibly feel-good groove that blends funk and jazz.

The song is included on Ventura, his fourth studio album, released the same year, and its title refers to NBA player LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The lyrics carry a positive message as they portray James—known for his social commentary and active involvement in philanthropy—and they’re sure to give listeners the courage to take a step forward.

Coming from Anderson, who hasn’t had an easy life and has worked his way up, the song’s message feels all the more convincing.

Andy Grammer is an American artist who has been certified triple platinum, a recognition given only to massively successful hits.

In Japan, he’s not very well-known, so many people may not have heard of him.

His song “Keep Your Head Up” is one of his hits, and it became popular for its spring-themed, uplifting lyrics and catchy melody.

Since he’s relatively unknown in Japan, I wanted to highlight this track.

Be sure to give it a listen!

An alternative band formed primarily by Tom DeLonge of blink-182.

Former Offspring member Atom Willard was once part of the group as well, and the lineup tends to be fairly fluid.

They have many brisk, pop-leaning songs, and beyond music, they’re active across multiple fields such as the art scene and film.
