A compilation of Western songs with titles starting with 'P'

In this article, I’ll be introducing classic Western songs whose titles start with the letter “P.” When you think of English words that begin with “P,” terms like “Peace,” “Party,” and “Picture” come to mind—some of you might already be thinking of a few songs just from seeing those words.

I don’t think many of us have had the chance to specifically seek out and listen only to songs that start with a particular letter.

But looking at them this way might help you discover tracks you didn’t know or lead to new findings.

I’d be delighted if this becomes an opportunity for you to encounter some new music.

Singer-songwriter Marina Sena, from the north of Minas Gerais.

With a hybrid style that freely traverses MPB, pop, indie, and even street music, she’s a defining figure of the contemporary Brazilian music scene.

This track features her slightly nasal, gently wavering, sensual voice delicately sketching a bittersweet love over a pop melody.

While she’s captivated by the other person’s smile, the frustration of unrequited feelings tightens the listener’s chest.

It’s included on her solo debut album De Primeira, released in August 2021, and was also featured on the soundtrack of the TV series As Five.

The song generated buzz on social media even before its release and received massive acclaim, earning diamond certification in Brazil.

Its catchy sound should be comfortable listening even for those unfamiliar with MPB!

Preta pretinhaNovos Baianos

Novos Baianos, the group that led Brazil’s counterculture movement.

Centered on rock while fusing a wide range of traditional styles like samba and bossa nova, they were pivotal figures who showed new possibilities for MPB.

The piece I’m introducing today is a track from their 1972 album Acabou Chorare.

This historic masterpiece has even been ranked number one on all-time best Brazilian music lists.

Inspired by the lyricist’s real-life experience of heartbreak, the song tells a sweet yet bittersweet story, while its acoustic ensemble exudes a certain warmth—a curious charm.

Even among their music, which sang of joy in a melancholy era, this track feels especially tender, as if gently attuned to the subtleties of the human heart.

PressureParamore

Not only a band that represents the 2000s pop-punk scene, Paramore—whose immense influence on female artists in the 2020s is undeniable—made their debut with this track.

Included on their 2005 debut album “All We Know Is Falling,” it captures feelings of youthful impatience and the urge to resist pressure from those around us.

The driving guitar riffs and urgent beats, paired with then-16-year-old Hayley Williams’s emotional vocals, create a sound that truly stirs the listener.

The track is also known for its Simlish version featured in the game The Sims 2.

The raw momentum of an album made in just three weeks seems to function as an energy that breaks through an inescapable sense of stagnation.

It’s an emotionally charged pop-punk number that distills the spark of their early impulses.

BUCKSHOT – PROPHET ***OFFICIAL VIDEO***
ProphetBuckshot

Haunted Mound is a music collective that has absorbed witch house and cloud rap, standing out in the underground.

Backshot, an Ireland-born artist who works as a member of the group, released a track in September 2025 that draws you in with its dark, dreamlike soundscape.

It resonates with a deeply introspective theme, as if depicting an apocalyptic world envisioned by a solitary prophet.

Beyond Backshot’s own vocals, the production by Oscar18 and Sematary is stunning, crafting a one-of-a-kind sonic image where unease and beauty coexist.

It’s recommended not only for those seeking experimental hip-hop, but also for late-night drives when you want to sink into your thoughts.

ParisElse

Elsa, a duo gaining attention in the French electronic scene, blends genres to create highly original music that was popular across Europe, but one particular release catapulted them to worldwide fame.

Released in April 2016, this work stands out for its calm atmosphere and dark, groovy melodic lines.

Its lyrical, introspective worldview seems to deftly portray the glittering lights of the city and the loneliness lurking behind them.

It’s easy to see why it became a global hit, earning 12 Diamond certifications.

They also have experience scoring the film Apaches.

The track is frequently used in YouTube Shorts featuring master craftsmen showing off incredible skills, so be sure to check it out.
