They were formed as part of the TV documentary project “Road of Major.” The plan set a harsh condition: if their indie single debuted within the top 50 on the Oricon charts, they’d make a major-label debut; if not, they’d disband immediately.
Their released single “Taisetsu na Mono” entered at No.
16 and went on to peak at No.
2, securing their debut.
However, it was deemed too soon to go major, so after about a year of activity, they made their major debut in 2004 with the single “Kokoro E.” Many listeners were likely moved by vocalist Kenichi Kitagawa’s emotive singing and the warmth of the lyrics.
