Yuzu’s greatest and most popular songs
We’d like to introduce songs by Yuzu, a classic J-pop artist.
Their music is now heard in a variety of settings, and they’re a very popular act.
As a folk duo that performs with just instruments like acoustic guitar and tambourine plus vocals, many people likely practiced their songs when they first started doing acoustic covers.
It’s said that their unit name, Yuzu, comes from the yuzu sherbet they ate at a staff meal for a part-time job they worked at together.
They have many bright, catchy tunes, and plenty you’ll recognize, making them perfect for karaoke.

Yuzu’s famous and popular songs (61–70)
A bird that cannot flyyuzu

Yuzu’s biggest hit song, “Tobenai Tori” (“Flightless Bird”).
Released in 2000, it was also used as the theme song for the TV drama “Namida o Fuite.” From the A-melody up to just before the chorus, the vocal range stays relatively low, but it shifts into higher notes as the chorus heats up—the soaring high tones are the highlight.
It’s a song I highly recommend for those who are confident with high notes and would love to sing.
With moving lyrics that resonate deeply, it captivates listeners.
It’s also a great pick-me-up when you’re feeling down, and a song to try singing when you want to encourage someone.
At that timeyuzu

Yuzu’s universal song “Sonotoki ni” is one to savor amid everyday life.
Released as a digital single in May 2020, it was reportedly created from messages gathered from fans.
While the lyrics, inspired by the circumstances of that time, prompt some reflection on daily life, the song also carries a vibe that brightens a slow, leisurely day off.
Seeing the two members of Yuzu performing is uplifting, too! If you set this song as your alarm and imagine what you’ll do tomorrow, you’re sure to have a delightful day.
Storyyuzu

It’s a refreshing, quintessentially yuzu-style song.
It’s the kind of track you want to listen to when you need a boost.
It’s also a song I’d want to listen to together when someone important nearby is feeling down.
I recommend singing it as a cheer-up song at karaoke, too.
Perfect for anyone who wants to take life easy.
Spring Breeze meets Taro Hakaseyuzu

Released in 2007 as Yuzu’s 23rd single, this song actually dates back to their early days and already existed when they were performing street gigs.
It’s a heart-wrenching message song about the encounter with someone precious.
A Poem to Giveyuzu

A folk duo made up of Yuujin Kitagawa and Kouji Iwasawa, who began with street performances in Yokohama and are loved by people of all ages.
This song was paired with the hit Natsuiro that made Yuzu a household name, and is also included on their first original album, Yuzu Ikka.
It’s said to have been written for the fans who celebrated their birthdays during the group’s street performance days.
Unusually for a B-side, it’s so popular that it was included on their best-of album as well.
Let’s celebrate the send-offs of family and friends with beautiful harmonies and backing vocals like Yuzu!
Limited Expressyuzu

Yuzu is a musical group that has become synonymous with folk duos in the J-POP scene.
Their 22nd single, “Chotokkyu,” released as a double A-side with “Hi wa Mata Noboru,” was chosen as the theme song for the reality dating show Ainori.
The lyrics depict changing environments within the passing everyday life, and those in their 30s—the generation that listened to it in their youth—may feel a different kind of realism now.
With Yuzu’s signature refreshing harmonies and ensemble, it’s a comfortable, karaoke-friendly pop tune that comes highly recommended.
Bridge of Gloryyuzu

In keeping with the custom of taking yuzu baths on the winter solstice, Yuzu holds a free concert every year on December 22 called the “Winter Solstice Live.” It’s surprising that recording and filming are allowed, and there’s also the fun of a surprise since the venue remains a secret until the morning of the day.
