McDonald’s Double Cheeseburger: “The Burger That Brings Back Your Youth”

Recommendation for Adultsdohatsuten

This commercial, which begins with Masato Sakai sprinting in a suit, features a story that makes adults reminisce about their youth.

The place he runs to is McDonald’s, where he orders three Double Cheeseburger sets.

He then heads to the green room of a live music venue.

That day is their first live show after re-forming a band with his friends from school for the first time in 30 years.

As flashbacks show them eating hamburgers back in their student days, the three of them bite into burgers with the same expressions they had back then—such a wonderful sight.

In the latter half of the commercial, we see their performance on stage.

The song they play is Otona no Susume, which also serves as the CM’s background music—an anthem to adulthood that sings about how growing older is neither scary nor bad, and just listening to it gets you more and more fired up.

Marimo Holdings: The Moment and the Eternal

I want to be with you, not with a bouquetayaka

This commercial expresses Marimo Holdings’ initiatives for the future through the changing scenery seen from a car window.

As Ayaka watches the landscape shift and speaks, the company’s desire to make moments eternal is conveyed.

The song that further amplifies the grand atmosphere depicted in the visuals is Ayaka’s “Not a Bouquet, But I Want to Be with You.” It unfolds from the gentle tones of the piano into a majestic sound as strings build toward the chorus, and her tender yet powerful vocals evoke a sense of hope for the future.

In both commercials, the relaxed, easygoing back-and-forth between Yoshida and Suzuki is striking, and watching them chat with smiles puts the viewer at ease as well.

The background music is Don’t Worry Be Happy, sung by the two performers.

The song, released in 2009 by Kazuyoshi Saito, features lyrics that encourage you to take it easy and not worry too much, even though a lot happens every day.

It’s a perfectly laid-back cheer song that matches the vibe of the commercials.
