Here are some ideas for a variety of quizzes you can enjoy with preschoolers.
Since preschoolers are at a stage where they’ll accumulate many experiences and absorb a lot, quizzes are a great way to spark their interest and curiosity.
Quizzes that use visual information, or ones where children listen to everyday sounds, familiar noises, or voices and guess the answer, are easy to understand and highly recommended!
When you want to explain an event or communicate something important—and it feels a bit difficult for preschoolers—turning it into a quiz can greatly boost their concentration.

Fingerplay Quiz
@seika.recruit We all tried the super popular kids’ hand game “Rock-Paper-Scissors Hand Play” in a quiz version as a team of lead teachers! Even though it’s a hand game we always do, speeding it up made it surprisingly hard to think of things on the spot 😆 By thinking about what kinds of shapes or things you can make, you can foster children’s imagination ✨ Enjoy SEIKA ✌️Hand games#RockPaperScissorsFun workplaceNursery teacher / Childcare workerChildcare studentAspiring childcare worker#IWantToConnectWithChildcareWorkersEnjoy SEIKALikeI want to give it a try

Let’s turn a quick hand-play activity into a quiz to make it even more fun during little pockets of time! In preschools, there’s a familiar hand game where you make things using rock, scissors, and paper—like making a snail with a fist and scissors, or a butterfly with two open hands.
For the quiz part, after saying “Right hand is rock, left hand is scissors,” have the children think about and answer what it could be.
You might hear answers like “A snail!” or creative ones like “Ice cream!” and “A hamburger and chopsticks!” There are endless possible answers, so enjoy coming up with ideas together with the children!
Picture Book Quiz
@homeltd It really gets the kids excited if you do it after the picture book! 😆Childcare#FreelanceNurseryTeacherTemporary custodyTemporary childcareChildcare

One of the times children look forward to is picture book time.
So here’s an idea: a “Picture Book Quiz” that boosts understanding and interest.
After reading a picture book, ask questions like, “Here’s a question: What animals appeared?” to check which characters were in the story, or “What do you think they could have done to avoid fighting?” to invite the children’s own ideas.
Compared to simply reading aloud, this approach is likely to greatly increase their curiosity and engagement with the book.
I wonder which one has more.

Let’s count in different situations! Here are some ideas for “Which one has more?” They’re fun ways to learn numbers.
By comparing quantities, children can develop a sense of number magnitude.
In this quiz, they’ll enjoy counting while figuring out which has more.
Kids who are just stepping into the world of numbers might excitedly start counting, thinking, “Hmm, which one has more?” As their counting skills grow, they might even confidently declare at snack time, “We get two today!”

Odd one out quiz

Let’s think by looking at types, colors, sports, and the number of letters! Here are some ideas for odd-one-out quizzes.
They’re perfect for younger children to develop classification and observation skills.
It’s a quiz where you look at things like color, type, sports, or the number of letters, decide which one is different, and give your answer.
Through play, children can enjoyably build visual recognition and logical thinking skills.
By setting a time limit for answering, you can boost concentration and let them learn while enjoying a sense of speed.
Using hints as they go will also make it easier to take on the challenge!
Nursery Rhyme Intro Quiz

Many preschools sing songs during morning meetings or at the end of the day.
Here’s a fun activity I recommend: a nursery rhyme intro quiz.
Use familiar nursery rhymes and enjoy guessing them from the intro! You can play the intro from a CD, play a little on the piano, or even hum a tune—it all sounds like fun.
Children often know the songs but forget or don’t remember the titles, so through the intro quiz, I hope they’ll learn the songs and their titles together.
It would also be fun to do team competitions or have the kids compete against a teachers’ team!
Animal Silhouette Quiz

Heart-pounding excitement—what animal could this silhouette be? It’s an Animal Silhouette Quiz where kids look at the silhouettes of animals and guess what they are.
As the name suggests, children see animals rendered as black silhouettes and try to identify them.
Choosing animals with distinctive body parts, like elephants or giraffes, will likely increase the correct answer rate.
On the other hand, you can also create trickier questions—like a horse silhouette leading to “zebra,” or a bird silhouette leading to “duck” or “mallard.” Adjust the difficulty to match the children’s ages and interests, and have them take on the challenge!
Animal Sounds Quiz

Let’s liven things up with an animal sounds quiz! As the name suggests, it’s a quiz where you listen to animal sounds and guess which animal they belong to.
Easy examples include cats and dogs, but if you want to make it harder, how about giraffe sounds or panda sounds? Kids might be surprised to hear the calls of animals whose names they know but whose sounds they’ve never heard.
There are many videos that feature animal sounds, so be sure to look them up and make good use of them.
