Everyone wants to avoid getting angry and live each day in peace, right?

But life doesn’t work that way—problems and challenges come to us.

When you’re shaking with anger, what would you do?

Before you vent your anger at someone or somewhere, why not try harnessing the power of music?

Rather than just being angry or resenting someone, I’ve put together a selection of anger-themed songs that feel refreshing to listen to.

Give them a listen before your stress explodes.

And may you feel refreshed again starting tomorrow!

Standard(s)KREVA

A track where the commanding rap feels smooth and elevates the brilliance of word choices that pierce the heart.

While expressing frustration with the way the world is going, it also hints at a strong resolve taking shape within.

The conviction to stick to one’s own style is moving, and it makes the listener feel like taking a step forward too.

LAST ALLIANCE is a four-piece Japanese rock band that debuted in 2007.

“Katahiza no Yogore” is sung at a consistently uptempo pace and has a slightly dark atmosphere that gives it a somewhat eerie feel.

While it harshly condemns people who don’t live upright lives, it’s also a song that pushes forward those who are trying to move ahead.

Calling themselves a five-member, all-directional, negative disco-punk band, Kyuso Nekokami is a rock band whose trademark is lyrics born from hyper-detailed observations of human behavior.

“Uma Nori Mounting,” included on their fifth album Giri Heisei, sticks in your ears with its brisk beat and catchy melody.

True to its title, the cynical lyrics take aim at people who try to one-up others in everyday conversation, and many listeners will likely find the spot-on depictions satisfyingly cathartic.

It’s a rock tune with a contemporary theme that lets you vent your anger while also making you want to reflect on your own behavior.

Kami-sama, I’ve realized this is a song you can fully immerse yourself in, where the sense of sprinting and the gnawing impatience link with a stressed-out mind.

Since the entire chorus is sung in English, I think even people who struggle with Japanese music can get drawn right in.

From the lyrics, the protagonist seems tormented by human relationships and the gap between ideals and reality.

Surely there are many who feel the same helpless rush of anxiety and impatience, which takes root in the heart as anger.

It’s a stress-relief anthem that makes you want to blast it at full volume.

bowlingTakahashi Yuu

Thanks to the hit “Fukuwarai,” Yu Takahashi often comes across with a soft, warm image, but in fact he has many songs written with sharp, edgy words like this one.

In the lyrics of this track, he lists a lot of things that any working adult has probably felt are a total “pain in the neck,” which many listeners will relate to.

Yet it’s not just a string of complaints; by the end, he expresses feelings that convey love for someone important to him, which is truly heartwarming.

The accompaniment—band-based with piano woven in—feels comfortable and has a gripping appeal that really hits home.

stress-freemiwa

The more you listen, the more this song—mysteriously—seems to lift the weight off your heart.

Along with Miwa’s refreshing vocals, it soothes hearts worn out by stressful days.

Released as a single in August 2015, it was also used as the ending theme for the drama “Mr.

Hiiragi’s Homeroom” (Ministry of HIRUO? Note: Original title: “Minou”).

Packed with humor, the lyrics briskly capture the fuzziness of romance and the irritations of everyday life.

It’s the perfect track for those moments when you feel like screaming.

Put it on when you want to reclaim your true self or need a little boost.

It will surely fill you with energy for tomorrow.

In conclusion

I gathered a lot of songs about anger and resentment—did any of them resonate with your heart? As long as we’re alive, everyone has those aimless, frustrating feelings and irritations.

Before that anger spirals out of control, I hope you can find songs you relate to or songs that help you let it all out.

Belting them out at the top of your lungs feels great, so I highly recommend it!
