April events and observances that seniors can enjoy
April is full of events that mark new beginnings, such as school entrance ceremonies and company induction ceremonies.
As the weather gets warmer, some seniors may also feel the fresh, hopeful spirit of April.
With that in mind, here are some April events and commemorative days that seniors can enjoy at care facilities and similar settings.
We’ve gathered some lesser-known commemorative days too, like Anpan Day, Incense Day, and Haircut Day.
It could be fun to hold events themed around the names of these days on the actual dates.
You can also use this article to run a “What day is April X?” commemorative-day quiz.
Don’t forget to include hints when you ask the questions.
Let’s all enjoy the many events that April has to offer together.

The day of the art exhibition

April 9 is “Art Exhibition Day,” commemorating the first art exhibition in history, which was held in Paris, France, on April 9, 1667.
Incidentally, although that inaugural exhibition ran from April 9 to 23, it seems the general public’s reaction was not very positive.
It reflects an era when art was considered the domain of the nobility and its value was hard to convey to the masses.
Today, however, art is much more familiar to us.
On this anniversary, I recommend visiting a museum and seeing if there are any works on view that you can only catch for this special day!
In conclusion
We’ve introduced some April events we’d recommend for seniors—what did you think? Many people may have gone cherry-blossom viewing, celebrated Easter, or joined Hanamatsuri, but haven’t really had the chance to enjoy the various commemorative days sprinkled throughout April.
Let’s participate in and plan events that help seniors spend time with a smile, and make some wonderful April memories!
