DREAMS COME TRUE, known to fans as DoriCam, has won over many listeners with a variety of moving classics.

The group’s vocalist, Miwa Yoshida, hails from Ikeda Town in Hokkaido.

They made their major debut in 1989 with the single “Anata ni Aitakute” and the album “DREAMS COME TRUE.” Before their major debut, Miwa Yoshida also worked as a backup singer for Kyoko Koizumi and Miho Nakayama.

In 1995, she made her solo debut with the album “beauty and harmony.” Beyond her outstanding vocal ability, the natural, seamless way she adapts lyrics to suit fans and the mood of the moment is second to none—Miwa Yoshida is simply the best!

Whiteberry is a girls’ band that drew attention with their cover of JITTERIN’JINN’s song “Natsu Matsuri.” Formed in 1994 by members from Kitami, Hokkaido, they made their major debut in 1999 with the mini-album “after school.” When they released “Natsu Matsuri” the following year, they also gained notice for their unconventional yukata styling and even appeared on the Kohaku Uta Gassen.

After disbanding in 2004 due to members advancing to university, only the vocalist, Yuki Maeda, has continued her music career as a solo artist.

Miyuki Nakajima is a singer whose songs, such as “Ito” and “Jidai,” have been loved by many people for years.

Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, she made her major debut in 1975 with the single “Azami-jō no Lullaby.” She went on to release numerous hit songs, many of which have since been covered by various artists.

She has also written songs for artists like Shizuka Kudo, TOKIO, and Momoiro Clover Z, and those songs likewise became major hits.

In 2006, she received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Art Encouragement Prize as well as the Japan Record Award for Lyrics, and in 2009 she was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon, among many other honors.

ClariS, a female vocal unit that began activities in 2009 as a doujin music duo made up of two junior high school students and has continued performing despite member changes, also hails from Hokkaido.

They started out under the name “Alice☆Clara,” but in 2014 Alice graduated, and the unit became Clara and Karen.

Although they often appeared only through animation or silhouettes, in this music video you can see them directly, wearing masks.

JOYYU-KI

YUKI, the vocalist of JUDY AND MARY—a band that consistently ranks among the most desired for a reunion—is from Hakodate City in Hokkaido.

She made her major debut in 1993 as the band’s singer with the single “POWER OF LOVE.” After releasing numerous hit songs and gaining popularity regardless of gender, the band disbanded in 2001 to much regret.

The following year, in 2002, she launched her solo career with the single “the end of shite,” and has remained popular as a solo artist.

Her music is captivating for its charm, quirkiness, humor, and the uniquely varied worlds it expresses.

Koji Tamaki is active both as a solo artist and as a member of the rock band Anzenchitai.

He is from Asahikawa, Hokkaido, and Anzenchitai was formed in Asahikawa in 1973.

He made his debut as a member of Anzenchitai with the 1982 single “Moegi-iro no Snap.” Later, he appeared as an actor in the 1986 film “Prussian Blue no Shouzou,” and in 1987 he made his solo debut with the single “All I Do.” As Anzenchitai, the band went on hiatus twice.

He has also written songs for many artists, including Akina Nakamori, V6, and Seiko Matsuda.

La La LaDaikoku Maki

Maki Ohguro is a cool, no-nonsense, inspiring singer-songwriter who makes you want to call out “Big sis!” without thinking.

Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, she worked as a chorus singer for ZARD and B’z and also as a composer before her debut.

She made her major debut in 1992 with the single “STOP MOTION.” She went on to release timeless hits like “Natsu ga Kuru” and “La La La,” gaining widespread popularity.

Although she took a break from performing due to illness, her powerful voice has never faded, and she continues her career while also serving as a part-time instructor at a music vocational school.
