mushroom

Let’s make mushroom wall decorations and enjoy the tastes of autumn with our eyes too! Cut mushroom shapes out of construction paper and combine the pieces to easily create mushrooms.
On the mushroom caps, try sticking on round stickers or circles cut from paper, or paint patterns with paints to make colorful, eye-catching mushrooms.
Of course, you can also match real mushrooms and create brownish ones to combine.
Arrange lots of mushrooms and build a full autumn scene!
sweet potato

How about a sweet potato–themed craft as a wall decoration that evokes autumn? You can easily create one by cutting out sweet potatoes and vines from construction paper and assembling them.
If you want a three-dimensional effect, crumple newspaper into a shape and wrap it with reddish-purple paper to mimic the lumpy texture of a sweet potato.
Adjusting the size and shape, and adding leaves and vines will make the wall display even more vibrant—highly recommended.
Even if going sweet potato digging is difficult, making a wall decoration like this will let you feel the arrival of autumn and enjoy its seasonal flavors!
want to

Sea bream, known as “Momijidai,” comes into season not only in spring but also in autumn.
Let’s enjoy the flavors of the autumn sea by making this delicious autumn sea bream into a wall decoration.
Once you cut out the shape of a sea bream from construction paper, you can cut patterns from paper in different colors and paste them on, or draw scales and other patterns with paint or pens to complete the look—easy! Because sea bream symbolizes good fortune, it’s also popular for New Year’s.
So after using it as a wall decoration in September, be sure to reuse it for New Year’s displays as well.
dragonfly

As if to celebrate the harvest, all kinds of insects appear in autumn, don’t they? Let’s make a dragonfly—one of the insects strongly associated with autumn—out of origami.
You can aim for a realistic dragonfly, or go for a cute, stylized version.
We’ll create parts like the body and wings and then assemble them; by changing the colors, you can end up with a vibrant dragonfly.
If you keep a rounded feel for the body parts and a thin, delicate look for the wings, you’ll achieve a more realistic effect.
acorn garland

This is a garland made by stringing together decorated acorns that strongly evokes the fruitful feeling of autumn.
You can, of course, use plain acorns as an autumn motif, but turning them into designs that match seasonal events will heighten the excitement for fall.
Try drawing faces like Halloween pumpkins or painting movie characters—design the acorns freely with your own ideas.
When you string them together, acorns alone can look a bit plain, so it’s also a good idea to incorporate autumn-themed photos or illustrations.
Grape decoration

Autumn is the season when a variety of vegetables and fruits are harvested.
Among autumn fruits, let’s make a classic grape decoration using origami.
It’s a simple project: just attach grape berries, a stem, and leaves to a triangular folded base.
If you crumple the paper to make textured berries or use different colors of origami for the berries, it will look more realistic—highly recommended.
Besides using it as a regular decoration, you could also attach a string and turn it into a hanging ornament.
Maple leaf paper cutout

Papercutting that makes your heart race when it’s finished, and the moment you open it is fun.
How about trying a papercut in the shape of a maple leaf? You can make it with any way of folding and cutting, so with a little creativity you can enjoy many different designs.
Fold it firmly with the colored side facing inward, and draw lines on the white side to match the image you want to cut out.
Be careful—it’s delicate work—so watch your fingers with the scissors, and make sure not to cut through the connecting parts.
Paste your papercut on construction paper or hang it on the wall and enjoy.
