[K-POP’s Charisma] A Special Feature on BIGBANG’s Popular and Classic Songs
BIGBANG has been electrifying the K-pop scene since the late 2000s.
Even in Japan, before K-pop culture fully took root, they could be considered one of the boy groups—alongside TVXQ—that led the era.
They’ve now amassed a legendary track record and a long-standing career.
Their 2022 return to activities and G-DRAGON’s surprise performance of BIGBANG’s songs at the 2024 MAMA also became big talking points.
Their overwhelming songwriting prowess and charisma never cease to impress, no matter how much time passes!
From party-tune bangers that bring the hype to Japanese-language ballads that really hit home, we’ll be highlighting many of their classic tracks.

[K-POP’s Charisma] BIGBANG’s Popular and Classic Songs Special (31–40)
soberBIGBANG

Here’s an introduction to Shirafu, released in 2016.
The intro has a bright, pop-leaning feel.
Once it hits the chorus, the relaxed melody really sticks in your ears.
After the chorus, it modulates and a rap section comes in.
Among the instruments, the drums in particular are doing an excellent job.
GaraGara GO!!BIGBANG

This is a single released as the artist’s second in Japan in 2009.
It’s a song overflowing with a happy vibe, all about dancing, having fun, and getting hyped from morning till night.
I think it especially fits a summer beach setting.
The music video, being from 2009, feels of its time—the fashion is nostalgic.
맨정신(SOBER)BIGBANG

The Korean title is “Sober.” It sings of suffering—how, in a sober, ordinary state of mind, you can’t possibly remain calm.
“Sober” refers to not being drunk.
In other words, the person in this song is drinking and can’t breathe without borrowing the power of alcohol.
From the melancholy melody, you can tell they’re in an extremely tough situation.
When you run into a wall, listening to it might resonate with you on a gut level, beyond logic.
BAD BOYBIGBANG

This is a song included on the 2012 album STILL ALIVE.
Sometimes couples get into fights and end up saying things they don’t mean, hurting each other in the process.
It’s unbearably sad and fills you with guilt.
If you can’t bring yourself to apologize, you truly regret it.
This cool track sings about that awful version of yourself as a “BAD BOY.”
HARU HARU(하루하루)BIGBANG

When it comes to Big Bang ballads, many people would probably name this song.
Cheers to the talent and sensibility of G-Dragon, a.k.a.
Jiyong, who created this timeless ballad that will never fade (lol).
The song expresses feelings toward someone after a breakup.
People often think, “If we break up, I won’t be able to live on my own,” and they grow sad as they dwell on happy memories.
But before you know it, you get used to being alone, and the memories begin to fade.
You might still wish to meet again, yet time passes in which you come to understand why you broke up, so to speak.
It’s a heartrending, relatable song.

DIRTY CASHBIGBANG

This is a song where we want you to pay attention to the music video.
The MV shows a wacky side of BIGBANG.
It’s playfully made, so we hope you watch it when you’re feeling down.
Seeing them do weird things with total seriousness is really entertaining.
HOW GEEBIGBANG

The MV makes you wonder what’s about to start, and the scene where V.I shows up with an afro is laugh-inducing.
The rap melody makes the song fun.
You can feel a youthful vibe from them as they rap and have dance battles.
Still, I can’t help but wonder what that first V.I was all about—and it makes me laugh.
