Sea BreezeKikuoka Hiromi

It’s a work with captivating low tones.
They feel the sea breeze as a message from the voice of the heart and direct it toward life.
The imagined backdrop is beautiful, but the gentle thoughts while being caressed by a breeze are soothing as well.
It seems Ms.
Kikuoka studied various kinds of music and eventually arrived at bossa nova.
That’s how alluring this music is.
FotografiaOno Risa

Born in Brazil, he continued to be involved with Brazilian music even after returning to Japan.
It is said that he was decorated by the Brazilian government for his contributions to the spread of bossa nova.
This piece is a love song set on a seaside terrace at dusk, with a relaxed and pleasant mood.
INSENSATEZJoão Gilberto

Alongside Antônio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto is regarded as the most important figure in bossa nova.
He initially aimed to be a samba singer but did not find great success in that field; however, after going to the United States and collaborating with Stan Getz, he became a global star.
He also visited Japan several times.
One note sambaSergio Mendes

An indispensable figure in the history of Brazilian music is Sérgio Mendes.
Born in Brazil in the 1950s, he studied classical piano but was captivated by bossa nova and devoted himself to Brazilian music.
He has performed in Japan many times and released numerous hit songs; in particular, Mas Que Nada may be one of the most familiar Brazilian tunes for us in Japan.
His performance of One Note Samba is famous as a bossa nova standard.
The composer is Antônio Carlos Jobim, the forefather of bossa nova music whom Sérgio Mendes deeply admired.
JinjiSYLVIA TELLES

Composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim, this piece is, as the title “Dindi” (Silvia’s nickname) suggests, her theme song.
She had been active even before bossa nova became a worldwide hit, but tragically died in an accident at the young age of 32.

The GiftEydie Gormé
The original title is Portuguese for “message” or “gift.” It lingers in my ears more as pop than bossa nova.
Eydie Gormé’s lovely voice expresses the desire to accept the gift of love with pure sincerity and cherish it.
TristeElis Regina

Elis Regina, a female bossa nova singer born in 1945, was an extremely popular vocalist in Brazil during the 1960s and 70s until her untimely death at the young age of 36.
She was active during the heyday of bossa nova and released many hit songs.
Her repertoire includes many lively, fast-tempo bossa nova tracks with a joyful groove, and I think they’re still pleasant and enjoyable to listen to today.
Several videos and photos remain, and her striking looks are also part of her appeal.
Her life was dramatic as well, and exploring her history is fascinating.
