This time, we’re introducing jazzy BGM perfect for listening at camp!

Camping comes in many styles—from hardcore bushcraft to casual leisure you can enjoy easily.

Both are appealing in their own ways, but the bliss they share is that slow, relaxing time after you’ve finished setting up, right?

We’ve selected jazzy classics to color that chill atmosphere, drawing from both Western and Japanese music.

The first half focuses on Western tracks, and the second half on Japanese tracks—so be sure to check it out!

Louis Armstrong, the jazz singer affectionately known as “Satchmo.” I imagine many people in Japan are familiar with him.

His song “What a Wonderful World” is one of his most famous works, and it continues to be used in various media even after his passing.

It’s a jazz number with strong elements of popular music, featuring peaceful, anti-war themes, and its melody is very gentle.

How about giving it a listen when you want to relax and chill out while camping?

Dream a Little Dream of MeMichael Bublé

Jazz isn’t as popular today as it used to be.

Although these are tough times for jazz, there are artists who are achieving worldwide success.

One of them is Michael Bublé, who sings “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” His voice has a popular appeal reminiscent of Frank Sinatra.

The song is arranged as a relaxed slow jazz number, which pairs beautifully with Michael Bublé’s warm vocals.

Wouldn’t it be perfect for a leisurely moment after dinner at the campsite?

Don’t Know WhyNorah Jones

Norah Jones, a jazz singer who’s hugely popular in Japan as well.

She isn’t just a straightforward jazz vocalist; she’s a singer-songwriter who writes her own lyrics and music—quite unusual for a jazz singer, isn’t it? Among her works, a song that’s especially perfect for camping is “Don’t Know Why.” While it’s jazz, it has strong pop elements and is wrapped in a very relaxed atmosphere overall.

Give it a listen when you want to take a breather.

The classic song “Quizás, Quizás, Quizás,” composed by Cuban songwriter Osvaldo Farrés, is known as one of the Cuban music pieces that became a worldwide hit.

It’s said that a direct factor in its global success was the cover by jazz vocalist Nat King Cole.

Its stylish, mellow, and distinctive sound—a blend of Latin music and jazz—perfectly suits the atmosphere of an evening at camp, so be sure to give it a listen.

Composer George Gershwin, who had a major influence on American popular music.

His brother was the lyricist Ira Gershwin, and together they created over 300 classic songs.

Among their works, the one I especially recommend for camp is “Summertime.” As the title suggests, it’s a summer-themed piece, characterized by a relaxed, unhurried melody throughout.

Try listening to it on a hot summer night while snacking on some nuts.

Cold PassionNaka-tsuka Takeshi

Sound creator Takeshi Nakatsuka, hailing from Kanagawa Prefecture, has written and arranged songs for numerous major artists, including Masayuki Suzuki, Yuki Koyanagi, and AAA.

Among his works, a track especially recommended for camping is ‘Tsumetai Jōnetsu’ (‘Cold Passion’).

It showcases Nakatsuka’s side as a vocalist, with a languid vocal delivery and dazzling instrumentation that leave a strong impression.

It’s an upbeat tune, perfect as drive music on your way to the campsite.

“The Look Of Love,” created by singer UA—known for her soulful vocals that embrace a wide range of genres—and jazz musician Naruyoshi Kikuchi, who has composed numerous film and TV soundtracks.

The track features aggressive performances on saxophone and piano.

You’ll also find comfort in UA’s sultry, mature vocal allure.

It’s a jazzy number that blends strength with suppleness.

If you’re looking for background music for cooking at a campsite or gathering around a campfire, be sure to give it a listen.
