Songs I'd like to listen to while camping: Jazzy BGM (1–10)
Don’t Know WhyNorah Jones

Norah Jones, a jazz singer who’s hugely popular in Japan as well.
She isn’t just a straightforward jazz vocalist; she’s a singer-songwriter who writes her own lyrics and music—quite unusual for a jazz singer, isn’t it? Among her works, a song that’s especially perfect for camping is “Don’t Know Why.” While it’s jazz, it has strong pop elements and is wrapped in a very relaxed atmosphere overall.
Give it a listen when you want to take a breather.
The Girl From IpanemaAmy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse, a soul singer who represents the UK.
Sadly, she passed away at a young age, but during her life she released songs across various genres and stirred up the scene.
One of her jazz numbers is The Girl From Ipanema.
It’s a sophisticated track that feels like a mix of neo-soul and jazz.
With its cheerful melody, I think it’s perfect for a camping scene where you take a midday break.
What A Wonderful WorldLouis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong, the jazz singer affectionately known as “Satchmo.” I imagine many people in Japan are familiar with him.
His song “What a Wonderful World” is one of his most famous works, and it continues to be used in various media even after his passing.
It’s a jazz number with strong elements of popular music, featuring peaceful, anti-war themes, and its melody is very gentle.
How about giving it a listen when you want to relax and chill out while camping?

Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words)Nat King Cole

Nat King Cole, the great jazz vocalist known for his impressively rich, low-toned voice.
Anyone who enjoys standard jazz will surely know him.
One of his classics is “Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words).” While many artists have covered this piece, Cole’s version stands out by staying faithful to the original in 3/4 time.
Its relaxed melody is a perfect match for the calm atmosphere of camping!
SummertimeGeorge Gershwin

Composer George Gershwin, who had a major influence on American popular music.
His brother was the lyricist Ira Gershwin, and together they created over 300 classic songs.
Among their works, the one I especially recommend for camp is “Summertime.” As the title suggests, it’s a summer-themed piece, characterized by a relaxed, unhurried melody throughout.
Try listening to it on a hot summer night while snacking on some nuts.
Coloration BluesEGO-WRAPPIN’

Despite belonging to a niche genre, the unit EGO-WRAPPIN’ has garnered strong support from many listeners.
Their music is rooted in cabaret sounds that evolved from prewar jazz and in Showa-era pop, and their distinctive style has produced numerous hit songs.
Among them, one of the most famous works is “Shikisai no Blues” (“Blues of Colors”).
It’s a classic with a lush melody perfectly suited to the nighttime mood.
At a campsite, it might be nice to play it as background music before going to sleep.
Take On MeJiLL-Decoy association

Jill-Deco Association, a three-piece band affectionately known as Jill Deco.
While they center their sound on crossover, the track I especially recommend is their “Take On Me.” As a three-piece, the arrangement is kept relatively simple overall, but since the genre falls under swing jazz, it still exudes a bright, festive vibe.
It’s an upbeat song that fits any camping scene, so be sure to check it out.
