WildflowerSkylark

Skylark, an Italian band that unleashes grand melodic symphonic power metal, made their debut in 1999 with the album “Divine Gates Part I: Gate of Hell.” Formed around keyboardist Eddy Antonini, their sound is characterized by a fusion of orchestral grandeur and powerful guitar work.
Their lyrics explore fantasy and philosophical themes, depicting battles between good and evil and contrasts of light and darkness, creating an imaginative world.
They have enjoyed strong popularity especially in Japan and Europe, including a successful live performance in Japan in 2005.
Highly recommended for those who want to immerse themselves in an epic musical world or who love fantasy novels and films.
Thank You PainThe Agonist

Among the many renowned Canadian bands that have emerged in the heavy metal scene, The Agonist has gained popularity for featuring a female vocalist who commands both ferocious death growls and beautiful clean parts.
The group’s predecessor band was formed in 2004 by Alissa White-Gluz—who now fronts Sweden’s world-famous melodic death metal band Arch Enemy—along with guitarist Danny Marino and bassist Chris Kells.
That same year, they changed their name to The Agonist and began their full-fledged activities.
In 2007, they released their debut album, Once Only Imagined, produced by Cryptopsy guitarist Christian Donaldson, a legend in their local death metal scene.
Its modern extreme sound—tinged with influences from contemporary metalcore—and Alissa’s skillful vocals generated buzz among metal fans in Japan as well.
Their second album, 2009’s Lullabies for the Dormant Mind, saw a marked improvement in both songwriting and performance, and they made their first visit to Japan in 2010.
As mentioned, Alissa later left to join Arch Enemy; her successor, Vicky Psarakis, is no less capable, and as of 2021 the band continues to operate steadily.
Even if you find ultra-extreme metal a bit daunting, The Agonist’s music is packed with beautiful melodies—so give them a try.
EulogyThe Flatliners

Alongside Sum 41, The Flatliners are emblematic of Canada’s melodic hardcore scene.
In contrast to Sum 41, who found success in the mainstream, The Flatliners were steadfast in the indie scene before eventually moving to a major label.
While their early work was primarily ska punk, after switching labels they shifted toward a more straightforward melodic hardcore sound.
If you’re into melodic hardcore, these tracks won’t disappoint.
Flashing PicturesThe Ghost is Dancing

Based in Toronto, Canada, The Ghost Is Dancing is a band that truly showcases the appeal of indie pop.
They made their debut in 2007 with the album The Darkest Spark, drawing attention for their distinctive sound.
Their songs have topped charts at college radio stations and earned high praise across Canada.
They’ve also received favorable reviews from major outlets like MTV and SPIN, building a reputation as one of the most exciting live bands.
Combining emotional depth with melodic charm, their music resonates with many listeners.
Highly recommended for fans of indie pop and anyone looking to discover something new.
Dancehall DomineThe New Pornographers

The New Pornographers are a power pop band sometimes referred to as the “Canadian Weezer.” As the comparison suggests, they’re a band whose appeal lies in their relentlessly bright, straightforward guitar sound and melodies that are quirky—almost endearingly awkward.
As you can hear on “Dancehall Domine,” in recent years they’ve incorporated synths and edged closer to dance-pop.
