[Parenting Song] A song dedicated to moms and dads working hard at childcare

Parenting doesn’t always go the way we hope, does it?

“How come I’m scolding them every day?” “I thought I’d be a more relaxed parent…” Many moms and dads probably find themselves regretting things as they watch their child sleep.

In this article, we’re introducing songs about parenting that we want moms and dads in the thick of child-rearing to hear.

We’ve gathered everything from moving tearjerkers to relatable, laugh-out-loud “parenting life” tunes.

If you’re feeling worn out, give them a listen.

[Official] Uru “Because You Are Here” — Theme Song for TBS Sunday Theater ‘Ship of Theseus’
Because you are hereUru

This is a song written for the 2020 TV drama “Theseus no Fune” (Theseus’s Ship).

In the music video, the relationship between a mother and daughter is depicted.

The lyrics are addressed to someone precious, expressing regret over unspoken feelings while finding support in the memories shared with that person.

Who that “precious person” is will differ for each listener, but when parent–child relationships aren’t going well or when parenting feels difficult, listening to this song might make you think, “Let me try to say it first.”

MomFumizuki Mei

A song from a child’s perspective who feels unwanted by their mother.

It’s a very heavy theme—a sad song that parents raising children might want to turn away from, much like news about child abuse.

And yet, no matter how they’re treated, children can’t bring themselves to hate their parents; that pure feeling is something we should try to accept.

When things aren’t going well with your child, or when you’ve snapped out of exhaustion and regret it afterward, please give this a listen.

There are plenty of songs from a mother’s perspective, but not many from a father’s point of view.

That’s why I want dads to listen to Shogo Hamada’s “I am a father.” The lyrics convey the resolve of a father who may never be a hero, yet works hard for his family and his children.

The music video—shot like a drama and starring Saburo Tokito—is also a must-see.

Thank youMICA

Among her works, “Arigatou” is a track that lets listeners rediscover the joy of meeting their child.

Its warm, piano-centered band sound pairs beautifully with her soothing voice.

It’s filled with a gentle message especially for those who find themselves getting irritated or angry.

For busy moms and dads juggling work, housework, and childcare, it offers a moment of healing.

Please give this parent’s-eye-view song, overflowing with honest feelings, a listen.

Mega Super Hit♪ The Hug March / Sister Momonao ~Genius Silly Classics~

Using the melody everyone knows from Mozart’s Turkish March, we turned it into a funny parody song called “The Hug March.” It portrays the back-and-forth during a parent-and-child shopping trip.

Little kids demand to be carried during grown-ups’ shopping: “I’m tired, I can’t walk, carry me.” Meanwhile, Mom and Dad are loaded down with bags and completely exhausted.

“Carry me!” “Walk on your own!”—the tug-of-war goes on.

We wrapped that scene in humorous, unique lyrics and made it a cheerful tune.

It’s a fun number that will make both those currently raising kids and those who’ve finished raising theirs nod in recognition.

This is “Single Mother,” the 2010 major-label debut single by singer-songwriter SA.RI.NA.

It had been one of her signature songs since her indie days, and for her debut it was re-recorded while she was pregnant.

The song, which parallels a child’s growth with a mother’s growth, can be seen as an anthem not only for single mothers but for all mothers.

As children grow up, they inevitably find it hard to be straightforward with their parents.

Even so, the steady love their parents show conveys what truly matters to them.

Yoshida Yamada’s song “Mother’s Song” teaches us that.
