Star ornament made from straws

Angel Land Fukui: Let's Make Star Ornaments
Star ornament made from straws

Here’s how to make a star ornament using just straws and twine.

Prepare five straws cut to about 10 centimeters each, and thread them onto the twine.

If threading is difficult, attach a clip as a weight to the end of the twine and feed it from top to bottom to make it easier.

Once all the straws are threaded, form a pentagon and tie the twine.

From here, shape the straws into a star.

While holding the top corner of the pentagon so it doesn’t move, twist the bottom straw.

If the left and right straws form an X shape, you’re on the right track.

Next, bring the top corner straight down and tuck it under the bottom straw—that’s it! Adjust the shape so it makes a neat star.

Projection tree

Christmas Craft (Vol. 3) — Huge Impact! “Projection Tree”
Projection tree

This is a craft that uses light to gently reveal a Christmas scene.

Layer a Christmas landscape drawn on tracing paper over a mirror-finish circle that reflects light, then combine it with a tracing-paper cone.

After that, shine a light from above, and the reflected light on the mirror surface will project around the surroundings.

Let’s refine the details—such as which colors show up clearly and the best angle to shine the light—to improve the overall quality.

Why not try making your own Christmas card overflowing with a happy holiday vibe—an essential for the season? Cards that look elaborate, like ones where a tree pops up when you open them, are actually easy to make without any templates.

Just fold a piece of cardstock in half, attach your favorite origami paper, add a tree piece with creases so it pops up inside, and then decorate around it with festive, Christmas-style embellishments to finish.

It’s perfect to include with a gift, but a heartfelt card on its own is sure to make a wonderful present! Give it a try.

Donuts would also make a great match for Christmas ornaments.

Because they’re such cute-looking sweets, displaying them can create a fantastical atmosphere.

If you make them out of felt, they’ll have a warm, cozy texture.

If you design the donuts with a Christmas theme, you can enjoy the holiday vibe even more.

Try taking inspiration from Christmas donuts sold in stores, such as ones in Santa Claus colors.

Yarn wreath

Yarn wreath

A wreath you can easily make with yarn! Cut a piece of cardboard into a donut shape, then wrap your favorite color of yarn tightly around it until the cardboard is completely covered.

After that, just use glue to attach decorations like beads, ribbons, or pipe cleaners, and you’re done! Make sure to attach a string securely so you can hang it on a wall.

If you make a smaller wreath and add a strap fitting, you can turn it into a strap-style wreath, too.

It’s also a great idea to give what you make as a gift to a parent or a friend.
