In 2017, the rock band Spitz celebrated the 30th anniversary of their formation, and they’ve continued to thrive at the forefront ever since.
The song “I Want to Be a Cat” is the B-side to their ninth single, “Aoi Kuruma” (“Blue Car”), released in 1994.
It’s highly popular among fans as a classic B-side and has also been included on an album.
Masamune Kusano’s gentle vocals make it a very easy-on-the-ears number.
Yet the lyrics also carry a faintly unsettling air, a sense of danger that makes your heart skip a beat.
Happy! Fun! I love it!DREAMS COME TRUE
Released in 1989, this is DREAMS COME TRUE’s third single.
The A-side track “Ureshi Hazukashi Asagaeri” is well known, but the B-side “Ureshii! Tanoshii! Daisuki!” is even more popular, thanks to its boundless brightness and its power to instantly lift listeners’ spirits.
It’s a number brimming with the energy of being in love.
Both songs were included on the album “LOVE GOES ON…” released the same year.

“Continues,” included as the B-side to the single “Koi,” which became a massive hit as the theme song for the drama We Married as a Job (Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu).

chain gangTHE BLUE HEARTS

THE BLUE HEARTS, who still remain a legendary presence in Japan’s punk rock scene.
This song, Chain Gang, was included as the B-side to their fourth single, I Want You to Kiss Me, released in 1987.
Rather than main vocalist Hiroto Kōmoto, it was guitarist Masatoshi Mashima who wrote, composed, and sang this track.
It’s said that Marcy created it while he was feeling despondent and self-destructive, and that bleak emotional state comes through vividly—making it a song many listeners are likely to relate to.
I’m falling in love with you againSakamoto Fuyumi

“Mata Kimi ni Koishiteru” is originally a song by Billy BanBan.
This 2009 track is a cover by enka singer Fuyumi Sakamoto of the song released in 2007.
Initially, the A-side track “Ajia no Kaizoku” was released as a standalone A-side, but after release, this coupling song gained attention, leading to a change to a double A-side format.
A Poem to Giveyuzu

It was released in 1998 as the coupling track to Yuzu’s major-label debut single, “Natsuiro.” The lyrics and music were written by Yujin Kitagawa, and it is said to be a song he wrote for fans who celebrated his birthday during their street-performing days.
Among their coupling tracks, it is the only one included on their best-of album.

It was released in 2009 as the coupling track to Masaharu Fukuyama’s 24th single, “Keshin.” The song was used as the ending theme for NTV’s “NEWS ZERO” and was created around the theme of “life.” It is said that the “that hand” and “you” that appear in the lyrics were written with Fukuyama’s grandmother in mind.
He performed this song at the 61st NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
