Reunion wanted: the legendary band that disbanded to much regret

Bands are no exception to the rule that everything with a beginning must come to an end.

This time, we’re featuring Japanese bands that, sadly, have disbanded.

It’s a playlist packed with groups you’ll definitely want to hear—from timeless songs that colored our youth to that popular band rumored to reunite.

Reunion wanted. Legendary bands that broke up to much regret (31–40)

Taiheiyou Shiranui Orchestra grabbed attention through appearances in the amateur slot at Summer Sonic, but disbanded just as their popularity was on the rise.

Despite not being highly skilled technically, their performances crackled with passion, and the vocalist’s highly addictive singing is downright intoxicating.

Julybloodthirsty butchers

Bloodthirsty Butchers were wildly beloved by hardcore music freaks.

Formed in Hokkaido, they kept at it for many years, and many artists—like Tadanobu Asano—publicly declared themselves fans.

It’s a sad band that effectively came to an end in 2013 when vocalist Yoshimura went on hiatus.

The band formed by Matsushima Cross and Injan Furukawa, who were both heavily influenced by BOØWY, disbanded in 2007.

Matsushima Cross is currently on trial for extortion, but I believe there are quite a few fans who hope they’ll reunite once he has paid his dues.

That’s important.Daiji MAN Burazāzu Bando

Daiji MAN Brothers Band tends to be seen as a one-hit wonder because of the massive historic success of “Sore ga Daiji,” but in fact they have many great songs.

Since their breakup in 1996, attention has mostly focused on vocalist Toshiyuki Tachikawa’s activities, but I’d love to see the original members perform together again.

In conclusion

This time, we introduced bands that, sadly, have disbanded—what did you think? Compared to the increasingly common term “hiatus” in recent years, an outright breakup can be a deep sorrow for fans.

That said, many bands do reunite or resume activities, so why not hold on to hope and keep waiting?
