[Dragon Quest BGM] Masterpieces and Popular Songs from the Dragon Quest Series (41–50)
Melody of Lovesugiyama kouichi

The BGM that played during the wedding event in the town of Salabona in Dragon Quest V.
It isn’t used in many scenes, but since the event is so memorable, I bet many people recognize it.
Later on, it was also used as BGM in Dragon Quest X and Dragon Quest Builders 2.
At the risk of one’s lifesugiyama kouichi

The background music used during the final battle with the last boss, Hargon’s master, Malroth (Sidoh), in Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line, released for the Family Computer in 1987.
Its heavy melody, with a resonant low end that lingers in your ears, fits the last boss battle perfectly.
In the later Super Famicom remake, it was given a slight arrangement that further enhanced its sense of weight and grandeur.
The Mysterious Towersugiyama kouichi

If you’ve ever played Dragon Quest, the tower interior BGM is probably memorable, isn’t it? Caves and towers are unavoidable, but many people find them a bit scary and aren’t fond of them.
This piece, “Mystic Tower,” is the dungeon BGM used inside towers in Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, the eighth installment in the Dragon Quest series released in 2004.
While caves and towers often feature eerie or melancholy tracks, this one is comparatively bright and evokes a mystical image of the tower.
Open a path through bloodsugiyama kouichi

This is the BGM that plays during battle scenes in Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden.
Many battle themes are heart-pounding, and this one is no exception—it conveys the rising intensity of combat.
Dragon Quest VII was released for PlayStation in 2000, for Nintendo 3DS in 2013, and also has Android and iOS smartphone versions.
Monster Appearssugiyama kouichi

This is a piece first introduced in the 1995 Super Famicom title Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation, used during boss battles.
True to its title, it primarily played in mid-boss encounters featuring monster-like foes.
Among Koichi Sugiyama’s boss themes, its tension-filled dynamics and ebb-and-flow arrangement evoke a strong sense of fear.
In Dragon Quest VI, it served as the BGM for memorable battles against Mudo, Gracos, Durahan, and others.
Rather than a bombastic, explosive tune, it delivers a gripping, palm-sweating intensity that feels exhilarating.
