Iconic and popular songs of Genghis Khan

This is a collection of classic songs by Dschinghis Khan, a West German artist group formed in 1979.

Many people probably danced to these at campfires when they were kids.

They also became popular on the internet for their “misheard lyrics.”

We’ve gathered everything from famous hits to tracks for hardcore fans, so give them a listen.

Genghis Khan’s Classic and Popular Songs (1–10)

Kaspar HauserGenghis Khan

Dschinghis Khan – Kaspar Hauser

The song tells the story of a real person, Kaspar Hauser, a German orphan.

He is said to have been confined in an underground cell until he was taken into care around the age of sixteen, and his background has been explored from various perspectives.

Despite the theme, the relatively bright tone of the music is a relief.

Machu PicchuGenghis Khan

Genghis Khan features the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire.

The Inca Empire was a nation built by the Quechua people centered in Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador, and is also known as a civilization without writing.

The chorus, as if proclaiming “Let it reach Machu Picchu,” which is a World Heritage Site, leaves a strong impression.

KontikiGenghis Khan

The Kon-Tiki is a large raft with a mast and a cabin, built in 1947 by the Norwegian anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl and his team.

Heyerdahl published the Kon-Tiki Expedition account in 1948, summarizing the drift voyage, and this song is sung with ideas drawn from that account.

In the lyrics, Heyerdahl’s name is also repeatedly invoked.

Genghis Khan’s classic and popular songs (11–20)

Der VerraeterGenghis Khan

Dschinghis Khan – Der Verräter (Канал РЕН)
Der VerraeterGenghis Khan

It’s a song where they keep singing “Coward! Traitor!” to condemn a man who betrayed his comrades because he fell in love with a woman.

In response, the man who betrayed them makes excuses, saying his sanity was destroyed by his love for the woman.

Realizing that the key to the song is him pleading, “Believe me, it’s all because of love,” somehow makes it a heartwarming track.

Tut Ench AmunGenghis Khan

This number is themed around the boy-king pharaoh of Egypt’s 18th Dynasty.

Many aspects of his life and related facts remain shrouded in mystery, and his existence still attracts intense attention today.

Let’s listen to his extraordinary fate arranged in the Genghis Khan style.

Rom (Glorious Rome)Genghis Khan

A song by Genghis Khan praising Rome, the city of history that is loved forever.

It speaks of a past of repeated battles, yet still of proud dignity, and it tells us movingly that when Rome—when you—weep, even the gods weep.

The refrain “Rome, Rome, Rome, the most beautiful city!” repeats in a beautiful harmony.

AladdinGenghis Khan

Included on the 1981 album “Wir sitzen alle im selben Boot,” known in Japan as “Hero Aladdin.” It’s a wistful number set to a melancholic melody that conveys the sense of emptiness lying beyond the fulfillment of every wish.
