Its popularity in Japan is tremendous as well, and many EDM festivals are held across the country—from fun, pop dance music anyone can enjoy to core genres like house and techno.

In this article, we’ll introduce EDM festivals held nationwide.

This scene includes many events that originated abroad, and it’s not uncommon for big-name international DJs to visit Japan.

At the same time, there are DIY-style events featuring domestic DJs, so find the ones you like and join in!

Tokyo Metropolis

ULTRA JAPANTokyo, Sat 9/19–Sun 9/20

ULTRA, one of the world’s largest music festivals originally held in the United States, has been held in Japan since 2014. Staged across the globe, ULTRA has become a major festival in Japan as well, known for its overwhelmingly lavish production. With countless artists who lead the global dance music scene performing, this is an event you can’t take your eyes off.
