Acorn strap

Acorns are adorable just as they are, aren’t they? Many people probably also love that smooth, glossy texture.
That’s why I’d like to introduce acorn straps.
The idea is to attach a fitting to the top of an acorn and turn it into a strap.
I hope you’ll enjoy the whole process, from finding your favorite acorn to polishing it until it shines.
There’s also a method where you use only the acorn’s cap to make a strap.
Moon-viewing rabbit made of clay

Here’s a simple rabbit craft idea using clay.
Wondering what kind of rabbit? Think of a snow rabbit.
You’ll need 25 g of white clay.
First, divide the clay into two parts.
Use the first part for the rabbit’s body; the second part is for the ears and tail, so a small amount is fine.
Roll the first portion into an egg shape.
To keep it from rolling, flatten the bottom slightly.
Divide the second portion into three pieces to make the ears and tail, then attach them to the body with glue.
Finally, add the eyes, and you’re done.
For an even nicer finish, make the ears with Japanese-patterned chiyogami and decorate them, and create a background by accordion-folding paper.
grapes

Grapes, an autumn delicacy, have a particularly striking appearance among fruits, don’t they? Grapes are also a classic subject for torn-paper collage, so why not give it a try? You create each grape by tearing pieces of washi paper, ads, or other paper, but it’s okay if they don’t tear into perfect circles.
A variety of large and small grapes is great, and using just one color is fine too.
Grapes probably don’t even need an initial sketch, so they make a casual, easy motif for activities like day-service recreational programs.
Grapes × Cosmos

It’s a decoration that strongly evokes the autumn atmosphere, with grapes inside a basket and cosmos flowers arranged around them.
For the grape cluster, use a sheet of construction paper cut into the shape of grapes as the base, and attach accordion-folded circles to represent the berries.
For the cosmos flowers, layer two petal pieces and attach a yellow piece in the center to complete the flower shape.
Next, create the basket weave by alternating strips of long, narrow brown origami paper, wrap it around the grapes, and place the cosmos around the outside to finish.
Each part involves detailed steps, so it’s a craft that tests concentration and fine motor skills.

grape clip

These stylish grape-themed clips use 100-yen store bead stickers and ribbons.
They’re great for craft activities at day-service centers, and the practical clips will be useful at home even after the craft is done.
Make loops from four ribbons of different lengths, stick them together with double-sided tape, and decorate with bead stickers.
Glue the ribbons onto a wooden clothespin, then place a ribbon shaped like a leaf at the very top to finish.
You can arrange them with various ribbon colors and materials to create a chic, cute piece for adults.
Grape wall decoration

For cute character decorations with a grape motif, pay attention to the choice of base colors and the placement of the facial features.
If the grape motif isn’t clear from the outline alone, adding shadows to the grapes can create a sense of depth and make it more recognizable.
Also, creating bases in different colors and arranging them together can effectively convey a bountiful autumn harvest and a lively atmosphere.
For the backgrounds where each character will be placed, choose bright colors like green so that the grape purple stands out.
Grape decoration

Autumn is the season when a variety of vegetables and fruits are harvested.
Among autumn fruits, let’s make a classic grape decoration using origami.
It’s a simple project: just attach grape berries, a stem, and leaves to a triangular folded base.
If you crumple the paper to make textured berries or use different colors of origami for the berries, it will look more realistic—highly recommended.
Besides using it as a regular decoration, you could also attach a string and turn it into a hanging ornament.
