Afterglow of Dusk: Emo Western Songs Resounding at Summer’s End (91–100)
Lean On Me (ft Swae Lee)Calvin Harris

Scottish music producer Calvin Harris collaborated with American rapper Swae Lee on the track “Lean On Me (ft.
Swae Lee).” The song comes together as an R&B piece built on a psychedelic-leaning track.
While the sound is lively and upbeat, the rap delivery itself feels calm.
The lyrics portray the end of summer as a metaphor for a turning point in life.
It also offers a chance to get a sense of who Swae Lee is as a person.
Feels Like SummerChildish Gambino

Childish Gambino is the stage name Donald Glover uses for his work as a musician.
Glover—an actor, film producer, comedian, and screenwriter—is a key artist in contemporary music whose every release has been highly acclaimed.
The song being introduced here, “Feels Like Summer,” is included on the EP Summer Pack, which was surprise-released in 2018, and its animated music video featuring numerous celebrities left a strong impression.
On the surface, it’s a laid-back track that fits perfectly for the tail end of summer when the heat begins to wane.
True to Donald’s socially conscious persona, however, the lyrics tackle serious themes such as environmental issues.
After enjoying the song’s musical qualities, be sure to pay attention to the message it carries as well.

Wait For MeDaryl Hall & John Oates

Daryl Hall & John Oates are one of the leading artists of blue-eyed soul.
Released at the height of their momentum, “Wait for Me” is a 1979 work.
It’s a beautiful song with strong AOR flavors that ranks quite high in fan polls.
Dusk And SummerDashboard Confessional

Dashboard Confessional is a rock band led by singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba.
They specialize in genres such as alternative rock, emo, indie rock, and acoustic rock, and have enjoyed a long career with a wide-ranging musical style.
Their track ‘Dusk and Summer’ showcases this versatility, featuring a delicate melody that feels perfect for the end of summer.
So Long Sweet SummerDashboard Confessional

When you’re feeling melancholy, letting the sound of an acoustic guitar soothe you is a great idea.
With that in mind, I’d like to introduce “So Long Sweet Summer.” It’s a song by Dashboard Confessional, known for their acoustic guitar–driven style.
Set to a gentle melody, it sings of a summer romance and a winter goodbye.
Rather than out-and-out sadness, it carries a touch of bittersweetness, so it doesn’t get overly somber.
Also, pay attention to Chris Carrabba’s vocals.
I Don’t Wanna WaitDavid Guetta & OneRepublic

A summer anthem that blends nostalgia with freshness has arrived.
With a melody sampling O-Zone’s track, interwoven with a catchy hook and energetic beats, it delivers an appealing sound that resonates with anyone.
Released in April 2024 by Warner Music UK Limited, this is a perfect pick for beach parties and road trips alike.
A collaboration between David Guetta and OneRepublic, it’s a song you’ll want to add to your summer playlist.
forever//overEden

Irish singer-songwriter EDEN.
The song “forever//over” is included on his album Vertigo.
It’s a track themed around the end of summer, depicting the emptiness that sets in after summer is over.
However, it doesn’t seem to be simply mourning the end of summer.
The song is said to be written based on EDEN’s own life, using summer as a metaphor for happy days and the end of summer as a metaphor for a dark period in life.
