When I attended my first music festival as a freshman in college, I was captivated by its charm—“I can’t believe there’s a place this free and this fun.” I share information about wonderful music festivals every day to help grow the community of festival fans.

This is an event aimed at the reconstruction of Oranda Island on the coast of Iwate Prefecture. Even as there is still no clear prospect for recovery after the earthquake and tsunami, it embodies a passionate desire to share from Iwate an initiative that delivers support to the affected areas in the form of donations—something everyone can take part in and enjoy within the scope of their daily lives. Tracing our roots leads us to the idea that we are all family; hence the event is called “family tree,” carrying the meaning of a family lineage.
