Fun activities for Father’s Day. Recreational games (11–20)
buzzing top

Let’s play with a buzzing spinning top that whirs as it turns! A buzzing top (bunbun-goma) is easy to make by punching holes in a piece of wood or thick cardboard and threading a string through.
If you use wood, drilling the holes can be tricky, so feel free to rely on Dad for help.
Once it’s ready, hold the string with both hands and pull to spin the top with a buzzing sound.
Some dads may have played with these when they were kids.
Let Dad relive those nostalgic memories while you enjoy family time together.
Gesture Game

How about having some lively fun with a gesture game where you guess what’s being expressed using only movement? Even without words, you might prove you can communicate with your dad! It’s also a great way to reaffirm family bonds, so it’s worth a try.
Start with easy prompts like animals or distinctive celebrities.
Then gradually raise the difficulty, and try inside jokes too.
For example, “Dad doing ___” — capturing everyday moments through gestures could be really entertaining.
Get moving and have a great time!
rubber band gun

Many parents probably played with rubber band guns when they were children.
You make a gun out of chopsticks, hook a rubber band onto it, and shoot it like a bullet.
Lots of households likely have chopsticks and rubber bands at home.
It’s easy to make, and you can play both indoors and outdoors.
There are plenty of tutorials on video sites for how to build the gun itself, so try making one you like.
Some models let you hook on many rubber bands and fire them in rapid succession.
Playing target practice with them would be exciting too!
Newspaper Rock-Paper-Scissors

Let’s play Newspaper Rock-Paper-Scissors, a game everyone can enjoy regardless of age! Each player prepares a full-spread sheet of newspaper and stands on it.
Play rock-paper-scissors, and the loser folds their newspaper once.
Keep playing, and the first person who can no longer stand on their now-small newspaper loses.
Smaller kids might have the advantage! If you imagine the game Twister, it might be easier to picture.
Newspaper sword fight

How about trying newspaper sword-fighting, where you roll up newspapers into swords and duel? Preparation is super easy since you just roll the newspaper into a stick.
It doesn’t hurt when you get hit, and there’s little risk of injury, so you can play to your heart’s content with the kids without worry.
It also sounds fun to make your own customized, decorated newspaper swords! Another plus is that you can play indoors without worrying about the weather.
