Are you sane to marry them?SARD UNDERGROUND

Are you sane to marry them?SARD UNDERGROUND

This is the fourth digital single by the three-woman rock band SARD UNDERGROUND, released in July 2023.

It was selected as the opening theme for the TOKYO MX drama “Sono Kekkon, Shouki Desu ka?” (Are You Sane to Marry?).

As SARD UNDERGROUND originated as a ZARD tribute band, the song strongly reflects ZARD’s style.

The vocal melody is very straightforward and easy to remember, making it a tune many people can casually hum along to.

Throughout the song, singing lightly and without tension is the key to making it sound good, so please give it a try.

Shunkan SentimentalSCANDAL

This is a single released in 2010 that was used as the ending theme for the TV anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

It features a powerful guitar sound characteristic of a rock band.

The tempo is fast, but the melody line is simple, so it’s easy to remember.

NudeVo Vo Tau

Released as a re-cut single from their debut album “Vo Vo Tau 01hz,” this is Vo Vo Tau’s major-label debut single.

It became their best-selling song.

The rhyme-driven chorus is pleasing to the ear and leaves an unforgettable impact after just one listen.

Gentle CometYOASOBI

A song by the Japanese music duo YOASOBI, released digitally on January 20, 2021, and later on CD on March 24 of the same year.

It was used as the ending theme for the second season of the TV anime BEASTARS.

Likely for production purposes, the original track features a vocal sound design with fairly strong pitch-correction effects, which might make some listeners think, “This seems hard to sing!” However, if you listen closely, the vocal melody is actually very simple and easy to sing.

So if you choose it without any preconceived notions, I believe it’s a song that can be quite approachable even for those who aren’t confident singers.

The artist switches skillfully between chest voice and falsetto, so if you’re not confident with high notes, be mindful of adjusting the karaoke key settings.

Don't you see!ZARD

ZARD’s 19th single, released in January 1997.

It also served as the second ending theme for the Fuji TV anime Dragon Ball GT.

A hallmark of ZARD’s music—and 1990s J-pop in general—is how easy it is for anyone to sing along to, especially at karaoke.

This song is no exception: it’s very easy to remember and sing.

It’s also a bit more up-tempo for a ZARD track, which I think makes it even more singable and catchy.

Try setting aside any anxiety about singing and simply enjoy the act of singing and using your voice.

It’s a perfect song for that!

This is ZARD’s 17th single, released in January 1996.

ZARD produced many hits in the 1990s, and this song was no exception, serving as the ending theme for the final cour of the TV anime Slam Dunk.

With this release, ZARD achieved their third million-selling single.

As was typical for 90s songs that were crafted with karaoke in mind, this track is very easy to sing in terms of both tempo and vocal range.

Not limited to this song, ZARD’s hits from that era are a treasure trove of karaoke-friendly tunes, so if this article has piqued your interest, we encourage you to look them up.

[Karaoke] A Big Roundup of Songs Easy for Women to Sing! (301–310)

Open your heartZARD

This is ZARD’s 18th single, released on May 6, 1996.

At the time, it was also used in a Pocari Sweat commercial.

While many ’90s J-pop songs are easy to sing at karaoke, ZARD’s songs are a real treasure trove of singable tracks! Among them, “Open Your Heart” (Kokoro wo Hirai te), which I’m introducing here, keeps its vocal melody mainly in the mid-range—not too high and not too low—so it’s very easy to sing even for women who aren’t comfortable with extreme high or low notes.

I also think Izumi Sakai’s voice, in the best sense, has a very simple, unadorned quality that adds to the song’s familiarity.

So relax your shoulders and feel free to give it a try.
