I Want You, I Need YouChris Christian

Though he’s from Texas, he has a refreshing West Coast-style voice.
Some consider him a one-hit wonder, but for AOR fans he’s an essential artist.
He’s also shown his talent as a producer.
Perfect for summer drives.
ParadisePhoebe Cates

Paradise (1982), often considered a follow-up to the Brooke Shields–starring film The Blue Lagoon.
The film’s star, Phoebe Cates, performed the theme song of the same name.
It’s a gem far too good to be left as just an idol song.
Phoebe’s exotic looks, reflecting her mixed Asian heritage, and her slightly lisping, cute singing voice are delightful.
Incidentally, her husband is the actor Kevin Kline.
Harden My HeartQuarterflash

From the very first sax intro, it sweeps you away.
It’s the biggest hit by Quarterflash, a rock band from Oregon.
The sole female member, Rindy, delivers vocals that absolutely radiate that irresistible “cool woman” vibe.
She sings of the sorrow of heartbreak—“Stay strong, swallow your tears, and say goodbye to him.” The Japanese title is ‘Misty Heart.’
Living For LoveMadonna

She, once lauded as an American sex symbol, was born in 1958 and is now in her fifties.
Even so, she remains active as the Queen of Pop, energetically pursuing projects such as directing films.
On her 50s birthdays, her powerful vocals—showing no signs of age—are sure to inspire courage.
Paradise ~Theme of Love~Ann Wilson & Mike Reno

Ann Wilson was the lead vocalist of Heart, but she also performed outside the group.
Mike Reno is the vocalist of the Canadian band Loverboy.
This song is a ballad that served as the love theme for the film Footloose.
In Japan, it was used in the TV drama Kin’yōbi no Tsumatachi e II.
Saturday NightBay City Rollers

The Bay City Rollers are a British idol group.
Their trademark was tartan checks, and they were hugely popular in Japan.
With this song, which has a striking intro, they made their American debut, reached No.
1 on the U.S.
charts, and launched their career as a global group.
California GirlsDavid Lee Roth

David Lee Roth is the vocalist of Van Halen.
This song is a hit by the Beach Boys, but it also became a hit as a solo single by David Lee Roth.
It seems that the unexpected song choice and pop sensibility, which one wouldn’t readily associate with his image, were well received.
