Sayuri is a singer-songwriter from Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

She was inspired by the fact that Kanjani∞ are idols who also write and compose their own songs, which led her to start making music.

After making her major debut with “Mikazuki” in 2015, she gained wider recognition the following year, in 2016, when Yojiro Noda of RADWIMPS provided and produced a song for her, and she went on to work on numerous anime theme songs.

Her one-of-a-kind, unique style—splitting into three personas, “SaYuri,” “Sayuri,” and “SAYURI,” and appearing unpredictably—is also a must-see! Her stripped-down performances, strumming an acoustic guitar, are incredibly cool!

She loved singing from a young age, was exposed to film and musical music, and found her path to debut by covering the ballad The Rose, which became a fateful encounter.

The theme song Letter to Tomorrow from the 2016 drama “Itsukoi” (officially titled We’ll Surely Cry When We Remember This Love Someday) is a wonderful song as well.

Her beautiful voice, as if whispering right by your ear, alone can bring tears to your eyes.

In recent years, she has also been actively performing live.

Long time no see.Koyanagi Rumiko

When it comes to 1970s idol singers from Sawara Ward in Fukuoka City, that would be Rumiko Koyanagi.

Thanks to hits like “Watashi no Jokamachi” and “Seto no Hanayome,” she initially had a strong image as a pure, wholesome idol and, along with Mari Amachi and Saori Minami, was referred to as one of the “Three Girls.” However, having attended the Takarazuka Music School since high school, she excelled in dance and acting, and after moving away from the idol path, she drew attention for activities that leveraged those strengths.

Her appearances on The Drifters’ comedy show were also particularly memorable.

Although she passed away on February 14, 2015, Sheena’s soulful performances, born from her love of rock, will live on in our hearts forever.

Seiko Matsuda, an idol singer from Kurume City in Fukuoka Prefecture who debuted in 1980.

Appearing in the entertainment world after Momoe Yamaguchi’s retirement left it without a top idol, she possessed real ability, such as strong vocal skills, while also putting the hallmarks of an idol—costumes, hairstyles, choreography—front and center, establishing an unshakable position in the 1980s.

Later, even after marrying and having a child, she continued her career in show business, and many female fans likely found an ideal to aspire to in her.
